For rubber tire racing I don't think this is necessary. Hitting stuff will always cause cars to break... or worse yet, have parts bend that will then cause handling issues.
Running a hard bumper - xray or parma - should be good enough. With all metal steering blocks I've seen issues with either screws backing out or people destroying the smaller bearings that you use in them. If you want to make a front end a little more crash resistant I'd recommend installing either a kydex bumper (it will crack and require replacing every so often) under the foam bumper or metal c-hubs (thsese will bend but probably not break)

I haven't tried them. Atomic makes some very nice swaybar mounts.

What servos are everyone running? I've got an XP 1015 from an offroad car installed but it's not great. The widest mounting holes seem a bit too wide and the narrow mounting holes are too narrow. Especially when trying to use the ser-boy washers. Thanks.

Right now I am running a Futaba S9551 w/serboys and using the widest holes. Fits perfect.
