So would you recommend getting the rears with a 0 offset and shimming, or using a 2mm offset?

I really dont know what to RECOMMEND .. im posting here my experience ... obviously if i go out and buy new foams, i will not worry about the rub-hub issue ... im now on front 40's 26mm Ellegi and rear 35's 30mm Ellegi without problem and tested Jacos during the weekend 0mm offset and not even a little problem.

Cool. How much of a shim are you running?

I've never messed around with 30mm foams, so have never had to worry about offset issues, really dont know what to do..

try running a 2mm shim or if there is enough thread just
use those hpi spacers. i just use 2mms offset wheels by
yokomo or jaco nitro shoe with 2mm off set.

I just used a 1.5 mm metal shim from a hardware store ... nothing else at all ...

By the way ... im not running the metal hex for the wheels but im running the Mugen MTX2 ones ... i dont think they measure are different form Yokomo, but its a thing to consider.

cya !

How to use different Silicone WT on differentials.

Need some help on theory behind when, why and how to use different weight silicone grease/oil on the differentials.
For example 100,000 front and 30,000 rear, what effects does it generate on the cars handling. Why not use 50,000 on front with 15,000 at the rear, and so on.
Lets say you are running on rubber tires on a medium to low traction track with a layout that combines some very fast sectors with some very technical slow sectors with 180° bends.
Somebody ...show me the light....... I've lost track on this issue.
AFM
PD: I run a Yokomo GT4-PRO

AFM,

With rubber tires i usually run front solid axle and rear 30.000 mugen oil diff ... thats on a track with 2 large straights and a big technical section mid-speed based ... the setup give me a lot of pushing on the front and let me do high speed on the big open curves and on the technical part give me good braking power to enter the curves and go out fast and with the rear under control ...

Now, on more technical tracks i use front 100.000 oil and rear 30.000 diffs ... the speed on the curves is less than with the front solid but give me more control on the technical parts of the track ...

Hope this help ...

I will definately agree with this. On free roll my 4yr old Yokomo still goes further than my Serpent 705 but the 705 does have some advantages over the Yokomo. Both cars are capable of winning and are really suited to different tracks.

Randman- Send me your email.

I'll just use the offset wheel if I need a full 2mm shim...

Got the front end of my car finished, and I gotta say I am nothing short of impressed. The fitment of everything is perfect, there is 0 slop, and 0 bind! I'm going to see if I can get a Squat bearing set for this car, but I did blow the grease out of the stock bearings, and they spin very free now. All of my aluminum stuff is off to the anodizer for a red color change, and my Yokomo titanium screws should be here mon-tues

BTW (I hope I'm not just talking to myself in this thread) does anyone know if there are universals made for the rear of the car?

hey randman i don't know of any companies making universals
for the rear. you really don't need the rears. You alsomight want
to add a little spacer on the rear of the car to get rid of the
antisquat on the car.

That's cool, I just like universals much better than dogbones. I'll run the car basically stock for the first time out, see how it does from there. It'll be a couple weeks before I get my red goodies back, but the engine will propably be at the end of December anyways.
