Default chassis prep

Received our kit yesterday. Questions for you guys on chassis prep:
- Do you CA all of the SSG plate edges, including the shock towers and top plate?
- How much beveling of the battery slot corners do you do? How deep and at what angle?

Thanks. I haven't worked on a plate chassis in a while.

Birdy: I'll assume that your using Sanyo cells of one type or another 3000..3300.... because those are the only cells I had trouble getting in. Sanyo's cells are just SO large that it takes extra work to get them in. And if you have Sanyo cells WITH an extra layer of shrink one them....then your in trouble. Back when I had my Mission, I had to shim up the battery post just to get my 3000HV cells to fit, and that was after I had to remove the extra layer of shrink wrap that came one them.

Now I know what your thinking. "Why don't the companies just make more space for the the things.....well, thats where GP and Panasonic come in. THeir cells are very, VERY small compared to Sanyo's. Infact, my new SMC GP3300 are about the size of my really, really, old Sanyo 1400 pack! And thats SMALL!

So the companies are left with a delima, make their slots big enough for the largest cell, or make them perfect for the smaller cells. Most companies are picking the second option and just letting those with larger cells figure a way to make them fit.

coolrcdad:

-I sanded and CA'd the lower chassis, but I just sanded the other pieces.

- I went at about(and I'm guessing here) a 45 degree angle when I sanded the slots. Maybe a little less of an angle than that really....maybe 40 degrees is more like it. I didn't sand them too deep. Just deep enough that my Sanyo 3000HV cells fit in, but not so much that my GP3300 fit losely. Its tricky to get it just right, so file a little at a time until you get it where you want it.

Hi Guys,

We got more MR-4TCSD parts in stock, including lower chassis deck, front and rear shock towers. Also, we received the Yokomo MMS (Motor Management System) and the HMM (Hyper Motor Mate) as well. I will get it up on the website tomorrow.

Thanks

Steve Wang
