Right guys I need some help. Im going to be running an LRP 13.5 brushless motor in my cyclone for the 1st time. I need to know what spur gear sizes I will need and what pinion sizes as well. I have the andy moor wce with the 16t pulleys. Im told to gear this motor around 4.0 on a large asphalt track. Any other advise ref 13,5 would be use full

You pretty much got it. 4.0 is close to what I use with the lrp 13.5. I used a 91 tooth spur with pinions around mid 50's.

Oh and gearchart.com is good for gearing. They only have the 16 tooth pulleys I think though.

4.0 seems a bit excessive for a fdr on a 13.5 may want to stick around the 4.2 range at the lowest. I am running a 92 spur and between a 50-53 pinion depending on which track I am at

I agree, But my lrp motor really needed to be geared abnormally high.

OK my set up is :

108 spur and 35 pinion
2mm spacer between the upper bulkhead and the inner pivot for front
and 2mm between upper bulkhead and inner pivot for rear
5mm front ride height
5.5mm rear ride height
4mm before the tyre lift from the ground (droop i think)for front
3mm before the tyre lift from the ground (droop i think) for rear
standart suspension 3 holes ,1.1mm each ,40w oil standart spring silver rear gold front
camber 1.5 all around
castor 4
wheelbase is standart
FF 1.5 , FR 2
RF 1.5 , RR 1.5
0.75toe angle front
and standart toe angle rear

4mm ackermann
and i think thats it

and my probleme is that :when i enter the corner , i have to break quite hard to turn without the rear end spinning so it means i loose time . So what i would like to do is to corner faster without the rear end spinning .
thank in advance

I run a novak 13.5 and gear it 88/46. I run the lrptc speedo and the motor comes off around 140 ish. I run on a long narrow track that has a very long straight and a tight infield. Next week I'm going with an 47t pinion. I also run lipos.
In general let temperature be your guide. 160-170 being the tops. (IMO)

The set up is already posted on gear chart.com We are running his Reedy race set up. It works great at the two tracks in our local area.

At the Reedy race guys weren't any lower than 4.3 with their 13.5 gearing. 4.0 might work for you but I'd check the temps during practice.

I found that the LRP 13.5 needs to have timing advanced to produce decent RPM.

If I didn't crank the timing, the motor was a real pooch!!

The motor is a heavy part of your car so you want it as low as possible. raising it will make your car roll to much in turns. Your front top plate will not sit flat if you raise the motor mount up with 2mm washers.

Yeah jag88 ..........We had fun in mod today, I had a broken power wire from the speedo so I didn't have anything for Brett, I found it after the main.

I know HB/HPI reps come in here from time to time, my questions about the new TC.

Why plastic front bumper support?
Why black spring collars?
Why revert to 44mm CVA's?
Why steel turnbuckles?
Why steel hingepins/shock shafts?
Why new topdeck but no ATC posts included?
How come the shock bodies are now plastic?
Plastic belt tensioner?
Plastic spring pirches?
Plastic servo mounts?

With all the cost cutting on the car...you'd think it would be like $299 max.
