The 1/12th IRS caster blocks where made 3 years ago. We started with the 1/12th design to accommodate the 1/10th cars.

would the new bmi rr benefit from the irs front end. what i mean is would all the adjustments help or hurt the design. the car runs great with the stock front end. just wondering if its worth the dough. im always looking for new things to try. thanx

Someone little birdie suggested this. It is a good front end. My only complaint was with how soft the reactive caster blocks were, if someone made those out of aluminum. It would be solid.

I made the switch kind of on the spur of the moment. At the time the car was not handling good in the corners and i had already broken parts on my front end. I was getting frustrated plus i was out of parts for the stock front end on the db12r. I had one option leave before the mains start or take the front end off my IRS rugrat. So i figured mine as well give it a try. I put that front on the car and i havent broken a part on it yet plus i feel that the car is more smooth. For me it helped. The front end on that comes with the DB12rr is very good, but for me personally the irs one just felt more natural for me.

I for one think it could be a good upgrade depending on what you are looking for. Very durable and tuneable. I was a diehard "old school" Assoc. front end guy until I started running the IRS. I could never get the new style Assoc. to be consistent and stay in adjusment although the new one might be better, but it requires a whole different mounting method.

Even though I've pretty good luck with the AE frontend, I think I might try a CRC frontend. I can get one real reasonable and figure it's worth a shot.

I was thnking the same. the complete CRC pro-strut front end can be had for under $49.00. I am trying to limit my changes to the car right now to pay close attention to the dynamics of the car for every small change that is made. Once I get a good setup all down for our track, I am going to document it and then try to see what improvements the CRC front end can offer. I am guessing at a minimum it will offer less play in the front end from what the AE style builds up to.

I'm running the CRC front end on mine but with the long upper A arm conversion...that runs a bit more at near $100. It works really well though like this. I found if I cut off the flange on the bottom of the arm and do some light sanding I can use the BMI front suspension spacers instead of the CRC ones too. I also switched to the CRC sensor wire which super flexy. I hear TQ has one now too. My car is still in the process of being converted to the DB12RR but I'll get some pics as soon as I get the electronics installed.

I've been using the CRC gen-x frontend for some time and have really liked how its performed. The only area of concern is that the brass screws that hold the kingpin in place have a tendency to loosen up during a run. So I reguraly check that after every run.

I ran the IRS front end on an L4 for a couple years, very nice. You can change the inner camber link to match the surface grip. The aluminum did wear (hinge pin). It gave the front end just a bit more slop than I liked. It's not a cheap replacement. But wait this RC racing?

i agree that the irs is more durable but my question is has anyone tried all the adjustments on the upper arms and if so did they help or hurt on the bmi car
