What size body would fit the F103GT if I were to buy a non-Tamiya body?

I was looking at the Protoform 200mm Corvette pan can body. Will this fit?

PF corvette is actually a very good shell, it may look like it will have a loose rear end but I put one on my GenX10 and went a lap faster, it has that slight understeer feel to it and the rear end is planted.

You may need to fit some wider wheels to get the width out to 200mm

What's up with this? Re-release?

58351 Tamiya Mercedes C11 w/Finished Body Kit

Anyone had one before? Are the wheels F103-based, meaning would F103 rubber tires fit?

It's a re-release. I dont have this kit, but I have the original Nissan R91CP Gr.C chassis, which is similar. The wheels are F103 based. Rubber tires will fit, with the appropriate wheels. I just bought some F104 wheels for mine, but the offsets for the front & rear wheels are off quite a bit. I was going to use the ADVAN Courage body on it. I have another new body set if anyone is interested. Send me a PM.

How does it drive? I'm thinking it may be a relatively cheap, durable, reliable platform for some Le Mans-style endurance racing...

I only ran it once for a couple of laps, years ago @ Tamiya USA track, and it ran pretty good with the stock tires. It's been a shelf queen ever since, that's why I want to use new F104 wheels & tires, along with a different body because the original body is so rare and luckily didn't get any scratches after running it (driver cockpit set included). The original tires are hard as a rock.

So, you don't have to sell that GT for cheap or let her collect dust...

The chassis will stay the same with the 103GT except the whole rear axle/diff wheel adaptor must be the RC10 R5 parts. Front axle will use the RC10 R5 knuckle as well. My estimate is around $100 of parts, but that is not including a set of foams and body...

At least...that is the best way I can find out and reuse this GT car that no one is planning to race anymore....

I will post pictures once I have the conversion done....right now, I am busy dealing with the F1 103R.....
Solara....Did you ever finish your 103gt to WGT conversion? Would like to do the same thing to mine. Do you have a list of the associated parts to make the conversion?

If you have a full GT rear axle (hubs, bearings ect), like RC10R5 or in my case the CRC GenX10, all I had to do was to place some insulation tape around the GT bearing to bring it up to the Metric size so it fits in to the Tamiya ride height adjusters (some use heat shrink), then with some spacers to make the width even each side, then you can use any WGT rear tyres.
For the front it was a matter of locating some metric 8mm x 5mm FLANGED bearings, these fit straight in to the GT front wheels and on to original Tamiya front axles.
With this you can then switch between Tamiya style and GT style wheels at any time, cos there is no permanent modifying for the conversion.
