Ling,
Great Run man... Was nice to meet you too... I drove semi-hackish ( normal ) .. and missed my setup in the heat. When the track was a little cooler, my car was DAILLED...
I spent Monday at the track too, and got my 13.5 car on point.. the SP stuff was as fast as the Tekins...
I ran the gear diff in both cars....

Finally recovered from the Reedy Race.
Pics from Reedy of Victors Car.
Tamiya japan has finally admitted that Lipos exist.
The lipo specific chassis that Marc, Victor and Thomas Prumpler were running were definitly Tamiya based. Marc said some of the chassis were different and will probably not represent the real thing since they are still testing different thicknesses, cutouts etc. Victor had about 3 fully built chassis on his table with minor differences between each.
Notice that the motor bulkhead is spaced up about 1mm.
My conversation with Marc:
Me: "why is the motor bulkhead spaced up 1 mm?"
Marc: "I dunno...Kiyo did it"
Me: "What oil are you running?"
Marc: "I dunno, Kiyo built it"
Me: "What springs are you running?"
Marc: "Oh, I know- HPI Silver!!"
Another trick part was a TOP gear diff that looked very tiny, very light and very slick. It stole it from EJ and it would take very little to make it fit a 416.
The race was awesome. I wish I had more time to dial in my car. I
Tim Potter - glad to finally meet you! Thanks for coming out.

my guess would be, although the 1mm shims under the motorbulkhead etc alters the flex, the main reason could be the fit of the new lipo generation (50C) which is approx. 25mm in height but could increase further in future times. now, e.g. the LRP 50C 5900 and others wont fit under the topdeck of the 416 as they are too high. with this little trick the problem would be solved. now we have to wait or try for our selfs (i know i will) how the flex is different compared to the un-shimmed bulkhead etc.

More @ http://kentech.blogs.se now.
Plenty of pics.
Had it made based on some ideas I've had for some time. See blog.
Already have an extra motor mount to be machined down and chassis already designed for this. But this will only move it in max 1.5mm. Ideally need a totally new motor mount similar to the HB TCX but that requires a bit too much...as well as a redesigned upper deck. Will wait for the 417 for that
Who knows, could be, but then I would expect a 417 to be the next car and that could be totally different...

cool looking chassis there. so when are you going to do comparison tests between your experimental car and the std 416x? would love to see the lap times and read about your conclusions.

When can I get one of those narrow chassis

Hi Kenneth!
That's a great project! Hope it works (make it work!).
If you become satisfied with the results, consider selling the chassis and top deck through Racing Factory, will you?
Good luck.
Friendly regards from Portugal,
