Hi all,
Sorry if this is somewhere further back in the thread but have a couple of questions about the Worlds Edition:
Is the new battery position optimised for Lipo? I have seen one shop claim so but Tamiya usa just say its a new position?
I am not a fan at all of Spools up front, from my vague recollections of the original 416 (sold it back in April!) to run a diff up front it is just identical to the rear diff but flipped over yeah for the pulley to line up correct with the belt?
From the pics have they gone for steel front driveshafts? I bent one of the lightweight ones from the original kit nearly every race!!

Diff fits just fine up front, just flip it over.
Not sure if the new kit comes with steel driveshafts up front, but most of us bought them about 1 run after we got the car when we realized the aluminum ones don't work with boards. I've yet to bend a steel one.
With the short arms, you'll want 42's up front if you run a diff, otherwise they can bind on the t-nut.

Do you mean 42mm shafts? I was going to ask about which steel one's, I couldn't find any the right length when it first came out!

When I use a diff, I use the 42mm steel shafts up front. With a one-way or spool I'll use the 44mm steel. I think when the car first came out, only 46mm were available, but we were able to use those with the one-way if you took the o-rings out.

Thanks Adam, looking to get back into touring and looking at different cars, got most of a 416 diff lying round already (outdrives, rings, pulley assuming they're 37t, maybe even the screw/nut) so wouldn't cost me much on top of the kit to get running!
Is the balance ok with using Lipo?

LiPo balance seems to be okay, but you'll want to add weight to the battery side. What pack do you plan on running? I've used the SMC 5000's and 4000's with relative success, and will be trying the TP 40C's if they ever ship. For the taller packs, I shoo goo weights to the bottom of the pack that fit into the battery slots, which helps keep the pack in place. For the shorter packs (like the SMC 4000), I use one of the weighted plates that secures into the slots and just servo tape it to the pack. Then I line the outer side (and top) of the pack with tungsten weights to bring the car up to weight, and help balance that side.
