I'm using the tray with SMC 4000's, and they fit great. You can sticky it to the bottom of your pack, and it'll never slide around. With the 5000's, it's too tall. I used those Nexus weights shoe gooed to the bottom of my SMC 5000, and they worked to lock it into the slots quite well, but didn't contribute much weight. Unfortunately, the pack wasn't a great fit, and concerned me that it may inhibit equal flex in the car.

The PPD site also sells (out of stock) individual weights for the slots, much like Nexus. Shoe Goo works great to secure them, and comes off the pack easily enough when you're ready to remove 'em.

At this rate it wont be long until the chassis are made to accept lipo. Xray jumped on the 5 cell bandwagon pretty quick, and more people are running lipo now than ever ran 5 cell

i think battery companies should just offer heavier battery cases instead of trying to design a Type-R/E4 style chassis.

Hi,

the new 416WE plate offers another battery position. Because of the fact, that on the worlds there will be uses 6cell packs the whole battery must move forward to get a similar balance as with 5cell in front position (Thanks JL for this hint!).

My 416 chassis are working very well. Many xray and hb drivers were impressed of having a car which is so easy to drive. I hope, that in germany more drivers will switch to the 416 (the tamiya rate grew up in the last weeks dramatically! - similar to the apple computers story till now :-)

The 416 certainly is very easy to drive. And it also works well pretty much anywhere. I tend to make very changes from my basesetup, regardless of the track type. I think the most changes occur for my home track, but that's mainly because it's way more bumpy than most.
Most amusingly, a few weeks back I did a last minute indoor thing, and threw the car on the track with it's full blown outdoor setup on... only thing I needed to change was tyres and the rear shock position! Ended up with fastest lap by about 2/10ths, and easily had a measure of a gent of very similar capability, despite him running foams... can't ask for more than that

Hi all I am considering the 416 can someone let me know more about the short arms for this car.

How do they mount? Do they use the same suspension blocks or wider blocks so as to get the same trackwidth.

Also what other parts do you suggest to carry as spares and any needed hopups.

Anyone have a link to the manual?

The original 416 has the same arms as the 415. Only the new kit that hasnt been released yet (416WC) has the shorter rear arms and yes .. wider lower arm pivots. Thing is , I have yet to break a rear lower arm. For that matter , you could run the older reversible lw arms and the 1D and 1XA lower pivot blocks. Other wise its the same car . with minor mods. far as i can tell anyways.

I just got back from the Halloween Classic at The Gate in Cleveland, OH (first race of the Northeast Gram Slam series). Here's my 416 setup. The car was very predictable and didn't traction roll like most other cars did...hence the lighter weight shock oil. But the big surprise for me was the spool worked better than the one-way.

Am I right that you dont need any extra lower arm pivots when running the shorter arms?
Do you just run a narrower track width?
