Getting my MSX carpet car ready

I’ve decided to scrap my old set-up which was a 3mm chassis and standard arms and copy Mark R. set-up from the Vegas race (exception of the 4mm chassis – lets go Tamiya USA get it together)

I used the D/D blocks in the front as he did with the LWT arms. (I used HPI steering knuckles to clear foam tires) I assume he used the HPI knuckles as well. I used the 4mm wheel hexes as well, no shims.

Mark used Jaco Foams, I usually use Parma Foams.

I noticed that the track width exceeds the 190MM limit with the Parma Foams.

Anyone know if the Parma and Jaco rims have a different offset. I would assume they do since I copied Mark’s set-up with the exception of the tire brand.

Yes the Parma tires are a different offset and they will make the car wider. I can't remember how much the offset is off hand.

I want to know if foam tires are direct fit onto the TRF415MSX or do I need to do some modification. I have never ran foam tires on this car and I want to know what I need to run foam tires.

Well I ran my 415MSX at the Birds. I didn't do good at all. Seemed as the traction went up.. my car got slower. I just ended up running my EvoIV instead. Anyways, there was a factory driver there with Marc's car (or setup same as Vegas). Hubert Honigl I believe was running it. I took some pics of it. The 4mm chassis on it was sick!! Wish I had it. But once again.. Thanks to Tamiya for their support!!

Anyways, to answer TRF_RACER's question... you do not have to modify the car to run Parma foams. You only need the silver 6mm wheel hexes and a red axle shim (1mm). If you want to run Jaco foams, you need HPI Pro4/Cyclone steering knuckles with a 4mm wheel hex and a blue (0.5mm) axle shim. However, running the D/D front blocks, the car may be about 191mm or so wide. Also to run Jaco with HPI knuckles, you will need either... the Cyclone wheel axles with Tamiya dog bones... OR... Pro4/3 MIP wheel axle with Corally RDX steel dog bones.

The only reason I see to switch to HPI knuckles is if your track needs Jaco 2 stage foams to be fast... Other than that, just stick with Parma Cyan/Magenta.

Who makes the dark colored (dark grey) ballends that are on Marc R.'s car? I've also seen them on some other cars as well. Are these stantard in the MSX kit? if not who makes them and what is the part number? Thanks.

Maybe your setup was to soft?
marc was running a very hard setup in vegas. 60wt oil and 33lb and a 28lb springs.I ran harder springs and oil lately and it is much better. I would love to get the 4mm chassis tho
