I have a shock question for the group. I am building an Exotek F1R2 and I am considering which rear shock would be best. I am considering the Tamiya 53901 TRF Special Damper and the Tamiya 42102 TRF Special Damper Set. One shock versus four. I thought that having four, if the 42102 and 53901 shocks are truly compatible, would allow me to test different shock/spring combos more quickly.
Ideas and opinions on the compatibility/comparison of these two shocks?

Check the shaft lengths to see if one set is shorter. I've used the 53901s for F104, F103 and F1R builds. 53901 appears to be discontinued.

Email me, I have a set in stock if you want 4. For anyone needing a shock I buy the sets and split them up, it works out better for everyone as I am able to sell you the customer the same shock for half the price the only difference is it won't come in the box, it is brand new however.
so im runnin a tam f104. just the 104. so my question is, the counterweight really necessary to balance the car left to right? in the rear? im just wondering if i need to pick one up or not. bout to make a sizable parts purchase for my f1 car.
not sure if i need to add that or not.

Hm... the softest spring that I have is the Spec-R 2.5, which is rated around 14.5 lbs by RSD. I tried a Tamiya yellow but it didn't fit the SP shock and I didn't have an adapter. I think the AE springs may fit correctly, but I'm now thinking of going back down to the 2.5. The 3.0 is around 18/19lbs I think, so I may be way overdoing it there.

For me, One of the stuff I "needed" from TQ this time was Exotek POM 93T spur gear that will hold 16 ceramic diff balls.
And the aluminum rear main axle bearing holders made by Tuning Haus.
And the TiNi 2mm circlips also made by Tuning Haus.
Doug,
If I finish ahead of you in the next race, I will thank my new parts.
But if you finish ahead of me, you can thank your new adjustable servo mount.
