SC10 4x4 Thread
It is clear that we were/are not all physics majors. Thank you Krio for tht moment of clarity. You are spot on, while the physics are the same comparing different scale shocks, the assumptions, due to different mechanics, in the algorithms used to determine the shocks charectaristics are different. Meaning they do not translate 1:1.
I hope we are done with the bickering. We are just going to confused people more than they already are.
Back on the topic, the sc10 4x4!!!
Question, has anyone broken an idler gear who did not have the topshaft pinned????

On the up-side I don't have to sit 12" from the screen to play black-ops and I did save a bunch of money on my car insurance.
I am not trying to get your goat, get on your goat, get at your goat or otherwise touch your goat. However, I am pointing out what you wrote was malarkey. And I will continue to do it until you either let it drop, or show proof of your statement.
Your choice on how we go from here.
IMO this is correct. However, this is absolutely not what the other user was advocating. It may even have been what the other user ment, but it's not what the other user wrote.

I really, really, really want to, but it's up in the air at the moment... I blew ~$300 to replace the 22" hdtv in my living room with a 40" led hdtv on black Friday.

To me, this sort of situation (the one you are describing) is where the pin modification really shines.

Whole new track after they just changed it for the states? Wow... I was hoping it would stay the same since I can't make it out friday night for any type of practice and I would at least be somewhat prepared in the first qualifier.
they race sunday and after the race they will change it . the track is 3.5 hours from me so it is a drive but well worth it
As a patent pending product based on this notion, I'd like to bring back the AE volume compensator foam blocks used on the original tc3 shocks. With that below the piston and a bladder above you get the consistency of a bladder shock and closer than ever handling characteristics of an emulsion shock.
The problem with the foam bladder is it isn't static and it degrades rapidly as it absorbs oil. The shock shaft displaces the oil in the cylinder and compresses the foam by forcing oil into it, but it doesn't remove oil at the same rate on the rebound side. After a while, these diaphragms take on the consistency of rocks. On a sedan it was okay because the shocks had very limited travel, but on an off road car, not so much.
If you had trackside access to a shock dyno, you could "see" when the foam started to break down and change the shock accordingly.
The OG Losi JRX-2 shocks had a foam bladder inside the shock cartridge. The biggest development Losi did in the early cars (the ones before the XX product introduction, like the LXT) was get away from that and move to an emulsion style shock. They did not leak every other race day, and the car did not bottom out on large jumps with 80 weight oil any more.

I missed this one.

My carpet oval car has VCS side shocks, and they require service every other race day because the foams get compressed down to about 1/4 of their original size and the car won't handle the same as on fresh inserts.
Wild cherry, if you haven't noticed, this guy thinks he's "house" and thinks he knows everything and can fix anything. All he does is troll and bash people from what I can tell. He's probably gonna bash me for this post but I don't care. I just wish this thread could get back to what its supposed to be about... helping people with there sc10 4x4's
