What FX.12 motor are you looking to get?
Differentiating the Stock from the Modified can obviously be done
just by looking at the case color... From looking at a sealed box,
it should be labelled FX T-03S (For Stock) and FX T-03 (For Modified).
The 5 ports should show FX T-05...
About the ceramics... the balls should be colored Blackish Grey
while the stock traditional bearings are the Silver Chrome.
Again, the ceramics are optionals to be requested when ordering the motor.
I suggest you get a sealed box each time you get one of these
to ensure it came straight from the JP Racing Factory kinda like
these that was left from the batch we got in. Now the seal can
be peeled and then re-pressed in. That's why just like what Mark
mentioned, it does help if you get it from a trusted source.

I got my mod FX 12t-03 today. There was no extra letter on it denoting that it was a mod. I had to open it and check the case color to know that I got a mod. I got a good deal on it too. At least I think so.
$350 shipped for the engine.....NIB sealed

I got mine from the guy on ebay. I didn't get it through ebay, but he had 12 of them and I emailed him.... Got the last one he had. HE says. The box I got does not have any extra letters, but does have the hard black case, which doesn't come with the stock FX-12.
Also, are ceramic bearings Roar legal???? I thought no, but perhaps I am wrong.

Good question.. I know that it is not part of the Restrictions yet.
Actually, most people would like to have that question kept in the
low low... Because they are sure that once people see the advantages
of having ceramics in the .12 motors, they may start looking into
it.

I found this in the roar rules for 2004
6-29 Ceramic bearings are allowed. no other ceramic parts will be allowed in any racing engine in ROAR events.
( It also mentions you can't use ceramic rods etc. )
SO I gather they are legal.
