Standard kit chassis, $25 +/-. +8 from Ae $50, my guess is they're gonna try and recoup the mold cost because this chassis will most likely never be offered in a kit. Still rumor but I've heard the new car won't be based on this design, AE's pretty tight lipped so we won't know anything for sure for awhile but next spring/summer should be good times for us AE lovers.

Default +8mm Chassis setups

There has been alot of talk on +8mm chassis setups and I have a few questions. It seems that the standard setup in the rear has not changed much. Some "fine" tuning adjustments are being made with carbon parts and the usual washers on the inner ball stud. However it seems that the front is where changes are being made. Cragg, Wynn, Mitch, and Thielke's all have setups posted on rc10.com that change the lower shock location and conversely run stiffer damping. Is this change being made to get more turn in steering? Are there any additional postives or negatives? Also for those that have run Thielke's setup it says for the front springs Kyosho Silver (AE Silver). Kyosho silvers are rated at 3.3 and Associated silver is rated at 3.85. Which is it? That is a huge difference in spring rate. Lastly for those running Thielke's setup what are you finding better than the previous setups?

The +8 chassis from associated is available for $30 on AMain...the +8 with the Carbon Battery strap is available for $43. Sooo...not much recouping of the mold right there.

Retooling the mold is minor in this case. Especially when were just talking about a slight adjustment. AE is working on the B5 already. They would be foolish not to with all the tech that has been introduced into 2wd recently.

Why would you introduce a whole new design ?

The others still can't beat the B4.....

Let's not get crazy... AE is a great car in it's design, but lacks in it's construction and attention to detail. AE wins because they have the best drivers. The day AE releases a B5 that has all the qualities of the B4, but with the construction, attention to detail, and the precision of something like the K car or the 22... is the day AE COMPLETELY dominates.

Will match part for part against any brand .

Please don't let some fancy
graphics on a dog bone fool U ....

The AE diff , slipper , shocks , transmission, tuning options & plastic or graphite ?

The best .....

Then Ae Team Drivers and their support ...

Light years ahead of the rest....

Hope this does not sound Bias....

And you would lose the match. How about... the amount of slop that develops in the front arms after just a run or two? You can run a 22 for months and not increase slop ANYWHERE... at all.

The arms are fragile
Front spindles are fragile
The front shock tower is fragile
The shock springs rub the threads on the shock bodies
The car develops slop almost EVERYwhere

That being said, it's still the car I choose to run because of the way it drives. It has one of the better diffs on the market, and the smoothest gearbox, and the car just plain works.

I'm not a fanboy and am not afraid to acknowledge the faults of the kit I choose to run. I stand by my original comment, that a B5 would be a game changer.

arms ? graphite lasts longer stays tighter

Who's breaking steel or Ti axles ?

springs ? so they rub a little, so what ?
mind don't BTW...

wear & tear or slop ?

only after many races or months of fun ....

none of those things you ask for has really helped the performance for the others brands cept in sales....

To B the World Champion ?
You still need a Ae......

Didn't you just recently state that you generally completely replace the plastics in your b4.1 3 times between replacements?

Don't get me wrong. I am an AE fanboy and I will never switch brands. But the truth is the truth. The B4.1 could stand some updating.

Even Cavalieri mentioned in an interview leading up to the 2011 Worlds that he had hoped to have a new buggy in time for the event.

I'm pretty sure I can find that video clip if you don't remember it.

I think you have that backwards... the fragility of the B4 and the slop developed in the car will lead to higher spare parts sales. The more durable cars being developed today last MUCH longer between part replacements. How do i know? because iv owned and raced almost all of them.

I admit the B4 parts are a bit cheaper, but id rather have the precision and durability from the get-go.

As much as I like the B4, im sure I would like the B5 even better... you are the only guy that is SO MUCH of an AE B4 fanboy, that you don't even want them to develop something new.... Cmon George, a B5 would be awesome
