I would rather get hit by a 1/10th scale running at 90 kph than getting hit by a 1/5th scale at 72 kph !

Can someone give tell me the difference btwn the stock version and mod version, from what I can find on the net the difference would be the color of the case, black vs gray/silver.... is there more....

The difference between the STOCK JP FX12 T-03 and the MODIFED
format is the casing and the liner.
The Stock format has the Silver Gray Case while the Modified
format has the Hardcoated Black Case as you mentioned. The
Liner on the Stock format is just a plain stock Novarossi Liner
while the liner on the Modified format has Porting Work done
on them by JP Racing.
But both formats have the hardcoated balanced cranks in them.

Having Ceramics in the JP FX Motors are options that can be
added or requested when ordering them.
They say they decided to do these options so people can get
the JP motor suitable to their actual perfomance requirement
and also not to mention the budget...
Ofcourse, the Stock JP Fxs being the lowest priced.

I got mine from the-border in Holland and they have one called "Full-Option" that comes with the ceramic bearing.
JP FX Full Spec
On the JP website, it simply states that the engines can be fitted with ceramic bearings, so the naming convention may well be up to the distributor.

What FX.12 motor are you looking to get?
Differentiating the Stock from the Modified can obviously be done
just by looking at the case color... From looking at a sealed box,
it should be labelled FX T-03S (For Stock) and FX T-03 (For Modified).
The 5 ports should show FX T-05...
About the ceramics... the balls should be colored Blackish Grey
while the stock traditional bearings are the Silver Chrome.
Again, the ceramics are optionals to be requested when ordering the motor.
I suggest you get a sealed box each time you get one of these
to ensure it came straight from the JP Racing Factory kinda like
these that was left from the batch we got in. Now the seal can
be peeled and then re-pressed in. That's why just like what Mark
mentioned, it does help if you get it from a trusted source.
