This is a wear and tear itemand something that is expected to be shimmed over time by the consumer as the case breaks in or wears. If you have some milage on the vehicle, I dont think its fair of them to. If its new and you have a race day on it and its toast, then of course. I will leave that up to you.

Would you recommend that I add a shim on both sides or just one side to push the ring gear closer to the pinion gear.

i mount mine on the front shock tower. there are two holes that pretty much fit the transponder mount. plus i like the fact its near the front of the truck to save me a fraction of a second lol.

I would either place it between the pinion gear and the inner bearing, or btween the diff case and the bearing on the diff. It all depends on if you like to shim your ring or your diff. You pretty much shim it until its tight, banging it on the table once its all together to seat everything and then back it off by one shim. Most people can find the pinion shims easier than the diff shims.

Do you have a p/n for the shims? I'd like to have them just in case I ever need them.

Default servo

I think the Spektrum s6040 is a great servo. However its a power hog and has issues if your not running a separate BEC or a Cap. I did a little reasearch and found a servo that I believe is the best of both worlds. Great specs and low amp draw. It the ACE DS1015. It has 201 oz of torque at 6v and a transit speed of .10 at 6v. No glitching issues and no bec required to run it. This is the same servo as the Associated XP series 1015. Just rebranded.

It seems to me from the specs and looks that the spektrum 6040 is a rebadged savöx 1258 in a different color. Is it really the case or are they "just similar"?

very simlar, different factories though. Different countries of origin in fact.
