I stated before, Craig. I have read all (400 now) pages of this thread and used all their ideas (minus the basket I don't think I should have to buy to have a working truck) and nothing had fixed the problem other than adding washers on the front of the slipper. And that (fully compressed + some) barely worked. I don't 'like' that fix. It's stupid and allows no adjustability. Others state they have no problems. So this "problem" has never been officially resolved, only opinions on the fixes either behind the slipper, in front, the basket etc.(along with controversy on which (rear or front) is better.)
So thank you for showing me the search option, but I have done my research and was looking for some help about the 550 castle. Because my 540 works. The difference is what my original post and question was asking.

I was going to take some steel wool (or really light sand paper) to the inside hub and roughin it up a bit so it grabs. Although this doesn't help your case that the slipper spring is fully compressed perhaps you can get a new spring and see if it any better.
Just trying to throw some things out there for you to check. If interested PM me as this thread is way to big to look for a response.

The two best mods for this truck are sway bars and the clutch basket. Weather you think you shouldn't have to buy it or not is up to you. The basket makes a HUGE difference and makes the slipper actually tunable. I race twice a week and refuse to wait until ae produces their fix to the slipper issue. Mac The Knife's product works just as advertised. Get one or get passed by those who have it.

Well I've got over $400 in lightening mods on my losi and where I run my Sc10 4x4 does faster laps bone stock on 3800kv, With less motor. Lol! I've got around 25 more batteries on the losi. Weird! I will admit I spent 3 years driving sc10 2x4 rtr and mod FT version. I'm loving it box stock except for tires and a couple settings. The more I drive it the harder I can push it! Good luck to ya!
While I am adding about 4 oz, I am still way below the Losi which is about 10-12 ounces heavier. The fact that the truck has a higher relative center of gravity is what I am attempting to tackle. Hopefully I find the stability that the truck lacks.

I cheated on the shock issue...I took the Losi 8eight shocks off my Jammin scrt10 and they are WAY better. I tested them back to back with the trackstar modified stockers and the Losi shocks are substantially better.

sc4x 5.5 w/ rx8
i am running 15/62. before i geared up, i was having all sorts of problems with no low end torque. i was super slow, and i had my timing maxed out. now with the new gearing, i can actually take some timing off the esc. i found out that even though timing says 100 on the rx8 software, it only means 100% of 30 degrees timing. right now i am running 65 timing, and i think i am going to 50 on my timing.
i am running the stock setup on the slipper, except i have a ht pad on the inside, and a regular pad on the outside. i have my slipper tightened down about 2-3 turns past the 3.5m mark.
i'd be interested to hear what other people are running gearing wise on there sc4x 550 5.5...how do you all like the 60 spur? i was suggested to try 13/60 by an avid local fast guy, but i have yet to try it.
i think i can honestly say i am finally getting there with my truck. i am coming from 2+ years driving a sc10 2wd, and this is my first 4wd. can i really say what's best? no. but imo, i am happy with the way this truck drives. i think the whole slipper deal is bs, and i hope ae gets there sh*t together.
like all ae loyalists, i will buy the ft when it arrives.

all these issues with the slipper I keep reading.
I have no issues at all ( running 1410 4-pole 3800kv on xerun v2.1 120A )
maybe it is becouse I do run my truck with the clicker loose. it could have something to do with it.

Nitro Stampede II Race in Calgary/AB. With some of the best drivers in Canada in attendance along with Richard Saxton from AE, Ty Tessman was able to take the TQ and win in all three classes including 4WD Short Course. In the finals he was able to beat Mark Hughes (AE SC10 4×4) and Patrick Neumann (Team Durango DESC410R) to take a clean win with his Team Associated SC10 4×4.

Ty Tessman please post your SC10 4x4 setup!

Richard Saxton is the dude in the RC10.com videos that shows you how to do stuff with your SC104x4....

Based on what the late Big Jim (one of the premier motor guys of his day) stated to me, You want to initially gear your vehicle to top out towards the end of the longest straight, then adjust your gearing accordingly based on how it feels going around the track as well as temps.
In general using this method, I have found that I would at most go 2 teeth more or less than what was set using this method. usually would just go with what was found.
