Have you used the new Intensive care System, and does it bring down each cell individually to the set cut-off.

Any information would be appreciated.

The ICS does not have an adjustable cut-off, it brings the cells down to Zero Volts.

JohnA is right it goes to 0V however if you have it attached to the Pro Trak it will give you an audible warning when the last cell goes under .1V. Usually takes about an hour for a decently matched pack which has been discharged after a race.

I'm not keen on the trays which only go to .7 or .9, I don't know if you have noticed but some cells take longer to go all the wayto zero after they get to .9. this would mean that the cells still were not accurately equalised.

I also have a Pro Match tray, I found that when the LED's went out there was still 0.7V left in each cell.

Yes it is Scott T's however Ruben has laid a claim on the face plate already. I do have the facility to do faceplates though.

Hi, I have just aquired one of these Pro Trak chargers here in New Zealand.
When I turn it on it gives me the following info:

CD & MH Ver 5.20-3

Can you please explain what this means and is it fully upgradeable to the latest version?

I do now have the use Pro Trak which is for sale.

20A discharge unit with a temp detection module and the motor run in unit. By the end of this week it will be upgraded to latest software (version 10.57 I think). $250 + postage.

New these parts would be around $480.

i'm in the market for a NEW charger soon and my heart is set on the Turbo 35, but after being at a race this past weekend and actually seeing the Pro-trak plus reading through this thread, it looks like i'm gonna have to do some research on this charger. But what it comes to is this.... BESIDES THE SIZE (size doesn't matter to me...no pun intended ), what advantage does this charger have over the Turbo 35? the GFX DOES IT ALL right?
What are you guys BOTTOM LINE CHOICE.

There are many things to introduce. The main features are described.

1) Easy Upgrade
If ROMs are exchanged, it can upgrade to the newest function.
In the newest ROM, we can perform 3stage charge.
You have used Pro-Trak for a long time.
Exchange of ROM can be performed easily.

2) Big feature of the Pro Trak is that it can supervise the state of each cell individually in charge/discharge of a battery pack. The charger of the other company detects the voltage of the whole battery pack, and is supervising the charge state. In a such type charger, since the state of each cell is not supervised, there are what is fault charge by the cell at the time of the charge end of a battery pack, and a thing which is the shortage of charge. That is, even if a charger detects a charge end correctly, in each cell, it is not necessarily in a best state. Moreover, you do not have the way which knows such an un-matched state. Since Pro Trak supervises the state of each cell, it can check the difference of such a cell.


3)Pro Trak, cycle chg/dischg can be performed by complicated setup. Cycle chg/dischg can be repeated a maximum of 99 times, and can also perform each cycle every 72 hours. The preservation method of the optimal charge sequence or a battery can be studied by using this function.

4) Pro-Trak can be used combining optional Modules. Intensive Care System(ICS) can be used as an advanced single cell discharge machine. For example, after discharging a battery pack up to the 0.1V, it can charge. If Temperature Detect Module is used, charge can be suspended at the temperature of a battery. If a Motor Run-In assembly is used, a motor can be turned by Pro Trak.

5) Pro Trak is equipped with the serial port. The state of the battery pack in charge, discharge, and cycle can be saved at PC using communication applications, such as a hyper-terminal .
Since the data saved is a Comma Separated Value(CSV), it can also make the state of voltage graph using spreadsheet applications, such as Excel. In kimihiko-yano.net, the program "Pro Trak Monitor" which makes the data of Pro Trak graph automatically is exhibited. Even when Pro-Trak has no PC, it provides you with detailed information.


6) There are many parts which a user can change. The message displayed with a power supply ON, the length of a buzzer, composition of a melody, ON/OFF of a display back light, etc etc...

I think what Kiyano is getting at is Pro Trak huge versatility. And as he says the big difference between Pro Trak And the Competition electronics chargers is the individual cell monitoring. Kiyano has wrote a graphing program that works very well with the pro trak and graphs the data in real time. The pic I have attached shows this for a 4 cell pack. The pic isn't the best but gives you an idea about what I mean.

I have a used one for sale right now, if you read a few posts down you can get the details.
A brand new unit, just the charger itself will be around $365.00 shipped. This does vary depending on the exchange rate though. The new version is getting close, 30A discharge and new case. The new ones have the blue backlit display also.

Phil the designer of the Protrak keeps an eye also on the small details. Some of them are not found with some of the other chargers.

- if there is a power failure during charge, the Protrak will automatically do a restart if the power comes on again. OK this feature also could be found with other chargers, but some of them loose the information of charge capacity before that power failure and will start at zero again. This is very annoying and will not be found with the Protrak.

- there is a part charge programm which is very useful. If you want charging the battery just for storing some time you could select how much capacity you want charging into the battery. You donīt need charging the full capacity if you donīt want. Very few chargers will do that.

- if you donīt have a mains voltage (right word?) and you have to use a car battery for powering up the charger the Protrak will even work at 10V only. Most chargers donīt like a voltage supply that low and will reduce charging current at about 11,5v or will stop working at that low voltage.

- from what I have seen since now the Protrak is the only charger showing a value for delta peak voltage at the display. So you will see if there is a false peak with a battery or you also can see when the battery has reached itīs highest voltage during charge and will be near end of charge. This is very useful if you want charging as close as possible to the start of a race. Very interesting for stock racing.

There are so much other features with the Protrak Iīm not using but at least the above are important in my opinion and I really never had the feeling I bought the wrong charger.
