Tires tires tires makes or breaks this truck. Calibers suck to me. I recently tried AKA enduros in soft compound and it made a huge difference in rear traction.

anyone running same tread design tires but with different compounds front and rear? would like to hear how that has been working for you.

Outside on sun baked grooved soil, I've had great luck with SS Enduros, all the way around.

Indoors on damp clay, different story. I bought some of the treads that work for me on this track. Ended up with soft HB Beams in back and soft Double Ds in front. If I ran all four matching, I was less than thrilled with the result.

is anyone having to add weights to balance our their truck? to my luck, the battery side is slightly heavier than the electronics side. im used to it being the other way around. for my 10th scale on-road sedan it was very critical to balance it.

does it apply critically in off road as well?

i started with barcodes green was ok i guess, now im trying subarbs s.soft ,i have some subcultures that i havnt even tryed yet ..indoor dirt
i have no ideal just trying things ..lol

I run gold barcodes or suburbs for indoor clay track with great success, and I am going to try out aka cityblocks for the outdoor dirt track in my area......

Default Diffs Leaking around out-drives

Dear Associated Support,

I have two SC104x4's and I seem to be having a problem with the diffs
in both trucks.

One truck has around 10-12 packs thru it and it appeared to be loosing
diff fluid out both diffs thru the out drives. I have disassembled this
truck and found both diffs with VERY little fluid, not dry but little
oil. Because I was warned to check them... they were filled 3 weeks
ago, when I was assembling the trucks. Additionally because this fluid
is contaminating the the bearing and attracting dirt about the bearing,
two of the 4 bearings seem to have grit in them. I do NOT think this
would be a problem is it were not for the diff fluid seeping out and
attracting dirt.

As a further note the out-drives on both diffs seem to be wobbley and
now seem to fit loose into the diffs

I can't tell for sure, but the second truck also seems to be getting a
dirt build up behind the out-drives (I can't tell for sure), with just
4-5 packs thru it..

Additionally I have checked my parts list and "O" rings do not seem to
be available EXCEPT if I buy a whole diff rebuild kit.

I sure hope this is a mistake and the "O" rings are available separately.

I really like these trucks a lot, but at this point I am VERY concerned
about this diff problem.

As you know the truck requires almost a complete tear down to get to the
diffs to service them and to deal with the bearings. It is ridiculous
to think I will have to tear these trucks down after every 10-12 battery
packs for this service.

Again I really like the way this truck handles, and have two of them
running and another in the box....not built.

I sure hope there is a easy solution to this problem.

Double d's look to be money, and i really like how jconcepts tires have a bigger contact patch, they will probably be the next tires i try.

Front:
30wt Losi oil/stock springs/kit shock positions
20,000wt diff
2.0mm swaybar
Kit camber link positions/3mm under inner ballstud
29mm ride height
M4 Calibers

Rear:
25wt Losi oil/stock springs/kit shock positions
7,000wt diff
no swaybar (don't have mine yet )
Kit camber link positions/2mm under inner ballstud
29mm ride height
M3 Snipers

I would respectfully suggest to folks who are struggling with this truck to throw the kit tires up front to see what it does...it's easy and quick to do and based on my experience it might help!

Anyone running a 540 set-up try removing some teeth from the belt to lower resistance?

the enduros didnt work well for you?? maybe AKA gridirons. Besides roll center and diff oils, tires have made the biggest difference with the truck for me.

It's an on road thing. ThunderbirdJunkie considered soaking his belt in WD40 or whatever it is the on road guys do to flexibilize their belts when he built his truck...but...he decided nah. No tangible reward in this scenario.

ThunderbirdJunkie is thinking the same thing of the belt, although it may be OK as long as you're not running over/underdrive pullies or landing nose down and wide open (as ThunderbirdJunkie has a tendency to do)
