I was wrong about the HT pads with the kit. Sorry, I had the idea that the white pads were the normal ones and the ht pads were yellow. My mistake. But I still don't have a slipper issue so that makes my case more that it an user issue for the slippage. So many variables, don't want to make Assumptions though.

Thats the great thing about having so many brands of product....move along if it's not fitting well with what you are looking for...It's not like your married to a brand..

Gotta have fun..if not..then whats the point...

This truck needs a hydro drive.

no prob. I am just trying to compile a list of everything I want to get and get it all at once if possible. finally gettting some time here to sit down with my stuff after some serious family issues.

Why? No one other than Chuck21 pays homage to MIP for giving us the first belt drive 4x4...

Hello,

I did a search for this a couple different ways (I promise!) but I didn’t see the answer to my question. I apologize if it is in this thread as, I didn’t see it and only read about 25 of the 200+ pages.

Here is my question:

I’m just getting back into off-road and picked up an SC10 4x4 and am just about finished with the build. A local racer who has one was showing me his truck and mentioned that he doesn’t use the removable ESC tray or receiver box stating that they were more trouble than they were worth and ended up trapping dirt and “crud” underneath and inside of them.

To those of you racing the truck (my truck will only be used for racing/practicing – no bashing) are you running these? Why or why not?

Again, I apologize if this is buries somewhere in this thread, as I didn’t find it.

Thank you in advance.

I do run with the tray in, but it can and does trap dirt. Its just my preference, it makes it easy to remove the electronics, so...

Guys sorry for a question that's been covered probably before but I searched ..I'm rebuilding my shocks and putting in trackstar o rings what's working best 2 rings per shock or 1 ?

Also going down in oil weight because of o rings and sways front / back,, back to 30w f / 25w r
Does that sound about right ?
I was having nose diving problems !

I'm going to chime in here because, up until last night, I kinda felt the same about my SC10 4x4. I was having the same kinds of problems...twitchy, tail-happy handling both on entry and exit...feeling like I needed to tip-toe around every corner. I had been running M4 Calibers all around (and not getting nearly enough traction with them!) when another racer at our track suggested I try running the kit tires up front. I didn't have them with me but I did have some M3 Snipers which I threw on the back and lo-and-behold the truck came to life! I could now throw the truck hard into corners and accelerate out of corners with authority and it even jumped more efficiently with the better rear traction. I literally picked up an extra lap on a large 1/8th scale sized track with the tire change alone !

It may fall into the category of a setup "band-aid" but I really think this truck works better with a less grippy tire up front (or conversely, a grippier tire out back ). For the record, here is my setup:

Front:
30wt Losi oil/stock springs/kit shock positions
20,000wt diff
2.0mm swaybar
Kit camber link positions/3mm under inner ballstud
29mm ride height
M4 Calibers

Rear:
25wt Losi oil/stock springs/kit shock positions
7,000wt diff
no swaybar (don't have mine yet )
Kit camber link positions/2mm under inner ballstud
29mm ride height
M3 Snipers

I would respectfully suggest to folks who are struggling with this truck to throw the kit tires up front to see what it does...it's easy and quick to do and based on my experience it might help!

Cheers,
Mike

just seems like the sc10 take alot more finess to drive hard. ive got two sc10 4x4s that im thinking of selling the one im running and a brand new one never assembled i bought for parts. neither one will have shocks im running the losi 8 shocks and sold both sets of stockers.

setup tekin rx8, scx 4 4.5 reedy 40 c packs high torque pads 1015 servo. chris setup off forum. man i wish i could get her to act right im a die hard ae man and hate see it go but ill be damned if a 2wd buggy is gonna beat me again lol. maybe im missing something but its just not very stable. on power it wants to spin out and if i come into a corner to fast it rotates way to easy. sad sad day im gonna miss my associated but somethings gotta change. im not bashing the sc10 but damn im getting frustrated with it. is anyone else experiencing problems with handling. maybe its my driving style?

I'm not using either. The electronics are plenty resistant to dirt and some moisture, so the receiver box only adds unneeded weight and forces me to mount a heavier speed control forward in the chassis. I'm using a RX8 speedo and want to get max weight as far back in the truck as possible to aid rear traction. The removable ESC tray only adds weight also. Both are nice, but in racing...if it doesn't help make the vehicle faster (speed, acceleration or handling) or more reliable, it's adding unneeded weight. With full size race cars the exception is safety equipment, but that's not an issue with R/C (and one of the main reasons I race R/C instead of the real thing).

Have you tried overdriving the front and using the clicker? That made my truck handle totally different but you need to drive it like a touring car. I don't think that the truck works well when driven hard.
