Hahaha.... That would be a straight up mistake.

Hey, everyone is entitled to their opinions regarding the mounts. I certainly respect them to the utmost. I would just ask yourself this when making your consideration if you should, or should not get the grid mount:

Does anyone who gave you advice it's not necessary to run with a grid actually own a grid?

Sure... It makes the motor more secure than the stock one, but it also allows for quick pinion and motor changes in comparison to the stock mount.

A friend told me long ago when it comes to advice you get on rc tech: "take it with a grain of salt".

Just do the research then you decide

im hoping the cold solder joint was causing high resistance.
You are way under geared! You should use a 18 or 19T pinion.

after 5 minutes geared 19/46 with the 1900kv i was @ 163.
i geared down to 17/46 and after 8 minutes i was at 150.
not too mention 19/46 seemed way too fast on our track.

Thats entirely up to you, in your original post, you stated that you were waiting on the Grid mount to arrive, and that you didnt want to run the car without it.
I took that as you thinking the stock mount wasnt up to par at all, the point I was trying to make is that it is.

I dont have any personal experience with the Grid mount, I have inquired about it, but my personal experience with the stock mount is that it hasnt failed me, and i've put it through some serious abuse.
Thats the only point I was trying to make...

I dont want anyone from Grid getting pissed off at me thinking I swayed a potential customer, that was not my intention at all.

The main items are:

Rack 89235
Turnbuckles 89072
Ballstuds (4) 89075
Ballends (4) 89074

You may or may not need different size mounting screws for clearance

I have run the stock mount for over a year in all sorts of conditions and I have never had an issue with gear mesh. I'm still running the same motor. I have never missed a qualifier or race because it took me too long to change the pinion.

The stock mount is more than adequate.

The real question is whether or not the Grid mount is worth $70.

A while back (around Jan / Feb) time frame there was a lot of conversation in this thread regarding how to stop leaking. Of course the sanding method is well known, but these O-Rings were also recommended for being a little more heavy duty. Many have stated after the sanding and installation of these rings they have had zero issues:

Driving style is a big reason I am sure
Every person should start at the correct gearing and go from there but 12 is way under geared.

Those temps are good I read about the same on the 19t depending on o/s temp maybe a bit lower.

Stock mount is definitely more than capable...grid and elite is just an extra and for some maybe worth the convenience.
