I got a 90 cent package of hinged screw covers, clipped off the cap and pushed it onto the threads. Check it out

Putting my shock back together with only the top ring and broken cartridge cap worked fine. I had 3 qualifiers and a 7-minute main with no leakage.

Still plan on replacing the cartridge when they are actually available, but I'll continue to run it this way until I can replace.

According to Novak's web site, the 3505 is 14mm. in fact, it says all 4 of the 550s are 14mm.

http://www.teamnovak.com/products/br...550/index.html

Of course, it also says "Allowed by ROAR" which ROAR has never publicly made such a statement. The rulebook still only allows "ROAR approved '05' size motors"...so even if they remove the '05' limitation, none of the 550s from any manufacturer are on ROAR's approval lists.

Guess you can't believe everything you read on the internet...

Tighten it up.

If you can't get it tight enough read the first post of this thread about that exact problem.

Thought he was talking about the older 550 Novak with the 13mm rotor. I got an answer back from Brent at Novak & he said the 14mm loses 1200kv so its either torque or rpm choice.

Heres the fix for the rotor problem. I went to Advance Auto and got some
Permatex high temperature sleeve retainer, it cost about $9.00 Loctite
also makes the same thing. The I pulled the rotor magnet off the pinion
shaft cleaned them both with brake cleaner. Then I followed the instructions
for the Permatex and I never had the problem again. Everyone I talked to
at the track that sent motors back for repair has the problem over & over
again. My fix is permenent, so give it a try, nothing to loose but $9.00 &
a little time.

Hope this helps...
THANKS FOR THE HELP I THINK IM GONNA LET ASSOCIATED REPLACE IT FOR NOW BUT I WILL TRY THE PERMATEX IDEA IF OR WHEN IT HAPPENS AGAIN. I KNOW FOR SMOOTHNESS ITS HARD TO BEAT THE TEKIN OR THE LRP I JUST WANT A MOTOR THAT WILL HOLD UP TO AT LEAST 4 OR 5 RACE SESSIONS IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK LOL. ALL OF MY BUDDIES RUN 1/8 SETUPS AND NORMALLY DONT HAVE ANY TROUBLES WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE ORIGINAL RX8S LASTING ABOUT 10 MINUTES EACH TIME. I DONT WANT TO GO TO 3S BUT IT SEEMS MY BUDDYS DONT HAVE TO PUSH THERE TRUCKS AS HARD AS I DO. ARE THERE ANY 3S PACKS THAT FIT THE SC10 4X4 I ALREADY HAVE A PLATOON WORTH OF 2S BUT I WILL SWITCH IF THE RELIABLILTY GOES UP. IM NOT RUNNING ANY CHEAP ANYTHING BATTERIES ETC. LAST WEEKEND AFTER ABOUT 10 MINUTES ON THE LRP GEARED AT 12 PINION STOCK SPUR IT CAME OFF AT 150 MOTOR 125 ESC MMP. MAYBE MY SLIPPER IS TOO LOOSE. I DID ALL THE BIND TESTS EVERYTHING ROLLS SMOOTH AND QUIET.
WHAT ABOUT REALIGNING THE ROTOR ON THE SHAFT FRONT TO BACK IS IT OBVIOUS ON MOST MOTORS WHERE IT GOES THANKS AGAIN. FINALLY AFTER 2 WEEKS I HAVE CAUGHT UP TO THE END OF THE THREAD WOO HOO

Hey guys,

I thought I would share my build up for those still looking for more info/pics, etc. Let me know what you guys think. I doubt I covered anything not already in this comprehensive thread.. I even linked back to it because there was a bunch of stuff I referred to that I first found here.

mines still slipping. high torque pads, thrust spacer shimmed and tightened all the way down. (spring fully compressed) I've used 2 different springs. same outcome.

I ask because I have been looking there everyday to see if they update the parts offering..
