Thanks for the tip, when i tore them apart today I noticed they had A LOT of play in them. I picked up new housings and outdrives and they had next to zero play. Ran a couple packs and had no issues.

I will be keeping and eye on them.

Thanks again!

Keep us /me updated on how that green grease works out for you.

I run 3s 5100s (off brand 30c hardcase packs) and a Tekin 2250 motor with a 17t pinion and stock 46t spur.

Currently I am a little under geared for what most guys run on the track (they normally gear their cars to do 30-35mph) and I have been pretty happy with it. Temps have been pretty low, and I have more torque on tap than I will ever need but keeps my corner entry speeds under control while I learn the car. Once I am needing more speed I will toss a larger pinion on there.

Servos, I would say just go with your favorite brand as all of the top brands make a nice product. I tend to always go with Hitec servos but that is because I have had great experiences with them in the past prior to getting back into the hobby.

Default Tuning Guide

I wanted to share a few Excel Sheets I created.

In one I consolidated all the Data from the Hudy setup guide to one sheet for quick access.

The other I consolidated many of the published setups for the RC8B and this can be sorted by track type.

I hope some of you find this help full. I've gotten allot from this thread time to give back.

This sounds like it would be great. But I can not seem to open it or save it. Is anyone else having trouble? Or is it my system?

I would be extra careful about opening an .xlsx file from an unknown source. That's one way people put malware/virus on your PC. The guy has one post and has only been on rctech for two days. Be careful.

Default Setup Data

Here I have put them in word format and zipped them.

You should be able to paste them back to excel at your leisure.

Do you have the capability to Unzip?

1. Perfect set up - It doesn't exist and never will. Your set up is 100% dependent on your driving style, track condidtions, etc.. I've found this out after many many hours for a "Catch all" set up that doesn't, and will never exist. - especially on a clay track.
2. TEKIN 2650 on indoor clay? Holy cow! I used my 1900 indoors w/a 19/46 ratio and couldn't keep it under control (although, my tires were a bit to blame as well) --- but that's some bashing speed right there!
3. I run the servo in my signature and I have a viper 4s that's nice. 99 bucks at Tower still (I think).
4. Spur / pinion is again dependent on your motor size. You could run a 22 with that motor, but you're going to fly off the track into the next town being indoor clay. For that motor you're going to want to use a 16, or no more than 17 to keep that car under-control --- Unless you feel like adjusting your ESC.

The most common set up I've seen (and run) is a 1900kv 46/18,19,20t or 2050 46/19,20,21 or 2250 46/19,20,21,22. All outdoor tracks.

yeea it was a great deal on that motor i couldnt refuse but i thought i can balance it out with a 4s battery now for servos is a spektrum high torque ok? and thanks!

Hey guys I need a little help here. I am helping a friend put together a
FT RC8BE. He has a Tekin RX8 with a T8. The wire that goes from the ESC to the receiver seems to be to short. The ESC is mounted so the wires are as close as they can be. The plug just pokes through the receiver box. I have double and triple checked the routing of it and there is no way its wrong or could really go any other way to help. I spoke to a tech at Tekin and he said it should be 10 inches long. I took it apart and measured it and it actually measures 10.5 inches yet its definitely still to freekin short. I thought about using a servo extension but I just dont like that idea much. Plus the plug is like half in half out of the receiver box. No good.
