I think the front of the car is pretty tough...but I would suggest a Parma bumper if you have issues with the front of the car.

associated pistons only have 2 holes, so the whole surface is just 2.22mm^2.....

From a few pages back:

AE/Losi Pistons Chart

54 = blue (1.4) x3 = 4.61811 mm^2

55 = orange (1.32) x3 = 4.10541 mm^2

56 = red (1.2) x3 = 3.39291 mm^2

1 - 1- 1.5 = 3.3378 mm^2

AE#1 = 54 (1.4) x2 = 3.07874 mm^2

57 = black (1.1) x3 = 2.85096 mm^2

AE#2 = 55 (1.32) x 2 = 2.73694 mm^2

60 = natural (1.0) x3 = 2.35617 mm^2

AE#3 = 3/64" (1.19m) x2 = 2.22438 mm^2

Doh, that's right.

#56 is actually 1.181 mm holes, comes out to 3.29 mm^2. Pretty darn close. Could get the #60 and drill them out to 3/64" to get it almost perfect.

Right now i'm using #56 Losi pistons, the feel is almost the same as 1-1-1.5

Last Sunday was held the first round of Italian national touring car championship, here is the winning setup of Alessio Menicucci (ThunderTiger-Europe team driver)

And here is the track where it was held: http://www.modellismo2002.it/pista.p...=580&width=895 (about 120x120ft)

Enjoy!

Drill the center of the out-drive with a 1/4" drill bit to accept the bone or use a milling machine, sand the blades a little and your good to go.

Stock shaft with enlarged outdrive. Much easier.

Just started building the car and I'm a optimistic pessimist and my first impressions are that I'm pleasantly surprised. Although I haven't gotten to the shocks and diffs yet (I always build those last). What's up with the rust on the hingepins and ballstuds though, lol? I polished the 'pins and massaged the 'studs, so its all good. I don't know Associated's process of anodizing but a few pieces are different shades of blue (I never noticed any glaring differences of color in my past Schuie's or Yokomo's), plus one of the bulkhead/bearing caps has splotches of white in the anodizing.
I can't comment on the lettered screws or plastic shims....I won't use them. Schumacher shims and SS screws from RCScrewz are used. Won't be using the stock bearings either, BOCA ceramics going in.

All in all though I'm enjoying the build (no head-scratchers yet) The car & design of things looks like its a serious contender. Had a rare day off today, so I don't know when I'll get back to it, but I can't wait to finish it up

Are you aware that SS screws are less than half as strong as the 12.9 high tensile screws included with the TC6? I wouldn't use them for anything load bearing. Actually I wouldn't use them at all; they're just as heavy but more prone to bend and have the heads strip.

12.9 Yield Strength = 1100
SS Yield Strength = 520

No issue with using their stuff in 9 years. And IMO, having a heavier car initially (before a car is too light and having to add weight) isn't a bad thing.

Are the enlarged outdrives from Spec-R, do you have a part number?

It's a mod you must do yourself. 5 minutes with a pillar drill or Dremel!

Sounds like the same thing I'm doing with my milling machine. Thanks
