One guy at my track has had problems with his SCX4 two races in a row. At the last race the motor wires unsoldered themselves off the motor. He was running a 14T pinion and then a 13T before it melted down.

last nite running 15 t with the 5.5 tekin and rx8 i came off the track consistently at 148-150 degrees F speedo at 98 or less.
HOWEVER the ambient temp was about 50 and really windy so something must be up if its unsoldering wires

Ryan, I will bring the CVD and drive shaft and show you. I will be there Friday at around noon or so.

What ESE Chris ? I run a SC4X & RX8 and never have a issue (14T). I know that we all have set our battery limiters to about 80% so teh ESE's do not draw full load. I have seen many at our track have leads come undone and it is almost always caused by amp draw...

If he's using our motor with the suggested esc and settings he should not be having heat issues.

If he's throwing too much timing at the motor it can cause the wires to unsolder, etc.

Proper esc settings and gearing are required with a truck this heavy.

I haven't stripped a screw in my xxx-sct either....not the point.

The fact is the screws in the Ten are crap...soft, and not anywhere near hard enough.
lol, i just figured my truck was made on a friday afternoon... maybe the prestripped screws are to make our diffs tamper proof.. i should call losi and see if they sell the special tool to remove the tamper proof screws...

I've had very good luck using the suggested ESC settings for my RX8 and 4.5 combo. With a 14 tooth max motor temp was 114 and about 95 on the ESC.
I know there are all kinds of variables but their suggestions are a VERY good starting point.

Tuesday at practice, running the Novak system, 4.5 & Novak Pro SC ESC 14/40 for gearing, aftger 15mins, motor was 150 & ESC was 105.

Ryan who runs our track has been trying out the CC 3800 & SCT ESC and still has temp issues with running a 16T pinion. Thinking more then likely its the sidewinder esc causing the issues and cant handle the weight of the losi and the demand of use.
