I have always used os-p3 plugs. I tried the 97t's but they don't last for gallons like the p3's. I'm not sure why when I try p-4 with 30% the engine just doesnot want to preform as well as with the p-3's. Am I tuning wrong flanno? or is it the part of the world I'm in?

Just thought i would show you this engine, raced Last Sunday and got mounted by a truggy during a race and cut out just after with an air leak throwing the engine lean, tried to restart engine which was a bitch, after playing with it removing the shell to check for fuel leaks etc I got it running for about 4 seconds when there was an almighty bang and the engine was blown towards my head, luckily the exhaust front stay stopped it and there were no flames,
Think this is terminal lol. engine had about 5 - 6 gals through it.
I think the impact with the truggy may have cracked the casing.

a little JB Weld and you'll be right back in action.

I see the serial # is 25................I'd guess you've had it for a while and that it had a useful life up to that point.

Does it feel sluggish down low and wont hold an idle with a cooler plug ??
Do you retune to the cooler plug (richen top and reset bottom then fine tune top) ??
a cooler plug should last longer as the element is thicker and should give it more torque, a hot plug seems snappy down low as it advances the timing, idles strong even if bottom is a little rich, but lacks torque.
I hope I make sence, I know what I'm trying to describe, not know if it's translating correctly to how I mean!
Difference between being snappy and being torque.
My old 5 port, I'v even gone down to a P7 on 25% in a pinch, it ran great on track, the only problem was a tempermental/unreliable idle when stopped for too long like durring fuel stops etc

So honestly without being there I'm not sure if it's ya tuning or has to do with where ya live bud.....

there is also that ya could have an air leak with the OD after running an OS, I can't run OD in my old 5 port for that reason too now, it bubbles around the plug when tried an OD.

Wow!, nice clean break in the case.
Hey, at least the con rod is in one peice, you may be able to
use it on your next engine break-in.
I have only seen one engine case worse than that. It was an
old Hyper engine that I shot with a .357 Mag to put it out of
my friends misery.

yes it made sense. And I did need to readjust settings. I want to do the pinch method that Grizz has on his website. But the engine still needs to be heated before it will turn over. I think that since I changed the plug I will keep running until the new carb arrives then set the final tune for it. I just noticed it wanted to run higher rpm with the colder plug. So I drove 2 tanks through it and on the 3rd tank moved needles. Now it's back to running like I had the hotter plug in it. It was a little harder to dial in,but I need the experience.
