I think a 31mm tall saddle pack might be pushing it unless the wiring is all outboard on both packs rather than inboard near the top deck. I have a 5100mAh Protek R/C that is 25mm tall and the plugs are near the top plate for the jump cable and they just barely clear. I have seen on here were guys have gotten around it by wiring into their bullet connectors at a 90-degree angle to add clearance. The other issue might be the length of the battery posts... some guys are just using locktite to hold the threaded portion higher in the blue ano post for more room, but I feel that 28mm is about as tall as you want to go and still have good handling and no contact with the top deck. If I remember right 31mm will fit under the deck just barely, but you might have to make other compromises.

I just measured my car and there is 37 millimeters between the bottom of the top deck and the chassis, so technically there is room for a 31mm pack. The top of the battery hold down posts is 30mm when built per kit instructions but they can be changed with longer grub screws or lock tight... the main issue is going to be your wiring.

yeah either put long screws through the thumbscrews straight into the battery posts or put a spacer under the post to make it taller. these things are beasts you will be satisfied. Ill post pictures of how I wired mine later... maybe long few days at work I am going to play now.

Thanks a lot for the reply guys. I decided to go with IP 5400 60C lipo, I think I don't need very big capacity that 31mm tall lipo offers since I only do a 8 min every run. And the IP weight about 280g, so with the ballast weight it would be about 367g and it's close to the battery weight recommendation on the lipo standard setup, which is 375g. Any thoughts about this?

And for the shock cap, is it better to use the aluminum for durability?

Thanks

Here's my new, minty fresh B44.1. I wanted to get some good pics before sending it into battle.

I haven't broken a shock cap and I run the composite units. I don't wreck all that much though so I don't know if I'm the best to give a recommendation. I have always viewed the alloy caps as just bling. And I wouldn't worry too much about the wieght thing unless you guys scale regularly at your track. I have a 5100 mAh lipo and only 30gr added weight. I like the feel, it really rotates well, but a less grippy surface might require more weight.

Hey, greenhell...

Did you die those wheels or paint them? Those look sweet!
