I love the shocks with the blatter, its smooth as butter, rebound STAYS consistant, helps your truck not bottom out as much also
If you build your shocks like drake demenstrates in his vid on shocks... Then im not sure why guys are having rebound probs, unless there is a prb (like intera said). But, i read some where a while back when they 1st started doing them as a mod. One of the pro's on the losi site said you need to keep new blatters close, because they do tear etc just from being used.

i plan on going full vented caps once it warms up. sound strange for a guy to say its too cold in LA.. but seriously.. 40-50 degree's is freezing for socal. its going to be awesome in about 3-4 months.
+1 If you're losing oil your bladders are either torn or not seated properly.
I have a feeling you may be building your shocks with too much oil on them. That will cause the bladders to blow out. If you follow the Drake video you should be good to go.
The big thing with the vented caps/foams is the consistency. They stay the same throughout a long race. I love them too! But you do need to be more on top of your shock maintenance. New bladders often is key.

Negative on the too much oil part. I do follow the drake video and the track I race at does not have great landings, so I run zero rebound. This keeps the truck stable on the landings. If shocks are feeling different by the end of the race I think it's more to do with the fuel weight differences more than the temperatures, etc.

I know it doesn't seem like they would make a big difference, but in long races you can notice it. It keeps the rebound consistent which keeps ride height consistent. Losi cars are very ride height sensitive so keeping ride height consistent keeps the car handling properly throughout the race.
I run a plastic spacer on the shock shaft between the body and the shock end. if you push the shaft all the way up the piston will come out of the shock body. which will obviously hit the bladder under full compression when assembled. I use the white plastic spacer from between the o-rings, ream it(4mm) out so it slides smoothly. that will limit the travel so it won't blow the bladder. Some will say the shock cant travel that far on landings but it's the crashes that will over compress any shock.
As far as the vented caps, I too, didn't like them at first but now after using them and getting them properly set-up, I wouldn't run anything else. Shocks are easier to build and vehichles seem more consistent and the shocks seems to last longer between rebuilds.
