How much would a vintage Avante in extremely good condition be worth?? I came across one on Kijiji for $800 and am curious if the guy is dreaming or if that is the going price.

He has changed the original rear arms with Egrss/vanquish arms and the driver figure is missing so 800usd is a bit to much 600usd would be a more decent price.

2 months ago that would be a standard price for that car in that condition. Since the re-release that is steep. Just check to completed listings on ebay. There have been some really nice Avantes selling low.

No, more like 300 or 350ish. Back then 500 was an impossibility for any RC car kit. Keep in mind we're talking 1980's dollars vs the dollar of today.

The ultra-rare Tamiya Porsche 959 kit was about 250 back then. I'm hoping they'll bring that kit back too.

It would be nice if they re-release some Egress parts to allow for some suspension tuning. The front shocks on the Avante are too low to work on any type of bumpy offroad tracks with a lot of jumps. That was the problem with the original and I'm surprised they didn't update the new version with a better front shock tower.

I will for sure be getting one of these! I remember wanting one so bad when I was a kid. It was almost like a sickness, I wanted an Avante so bad!
Same as the Clodbuster, I bought one of the re-released version of that.
Just a week or two ago I almost pulled the trigger on one on ebay. I am relieved I didn't!!!!
If they were to re-release the 959, I would be all over it too!
I have my current racers, but for me, and many others, Tamiya is what introduced us to the hobby, they are a top notch company for doing these re-releases. I am loving re living my youth with these kits!!!!!
I can't wait!

So..... who here will actually open the box and assemble it?

I think a lot of people will try to buy it and shelve it for their NIB Tamiya collection.
