That track looks FAST and fun! Your truck is all over the place...what tires are you using?

That's AE RC10fan's truck. Reread his post, it's stock tires and stock motor/ESC on 6 cells.

Those stock tires are the worst tires known to man on clay.

Easy fix, go steal the setup from the fast guys there.

At least get the best tires.

From one budget racer to another, you might get a little more speed from a little timing advance on your motor. ( but get the temperature under control first) Since you already have a NiMH charger, ask around and see if anybody has a real good used NiMH pack you could get dirt cheep. Good luck! Definatley look for used parts when you do decide to go Lipo/BL. You will save a ton of $$$

Also, get the popular tires for the rear. The stock tires should give you decent steering but you need the right tires on the back for sure. Stock tires are for bashing, not racing.

Thanks guys. Ideally I would pick up a brushless system and a couple lipo's and charger but it's not in the budget right now. I will keep an eye out on Ebay and the FS threads here for the AE RTR brushless system. I am hoping to find a way to get a little extra speed out of the truck with out breaking the budget.

I know the tires are a big issue, I will pick up a set of clay compound tires, Suburbs, Gold Bars or something similar and give those a shot. And keep practicing of course!

No doubt my racing lines are terrible! Every lap I was trying to get the quad double doubled correctly but I couldn't get the approach and speed right. I would think I got the first double right then couldn't clear the second double. I tried throttle on over the jumps, letting off at the top of the jump and even some brake after the top of the jump. Nothing seemed to help clear the jumps though the mid-air braking certainly added to the lawn darting!

Why does staying on the throttle off the jump cause problems? I was on the throttle in an attempt to keep the nose up.

I hear the need for a brushless system. Unfortunately there isn't much room in the RC budget these days. I will give a different set of rear tires a shot and keep practicing.

Also, I am running the stock suspension set up. Gold springs up front, green in the rear. Not sure on the shock oil, it is still what came in the stock shocks.

Great advice, thank you! I have a couple of new NiMH packs from cheapbatterypacks.com. They seem to be pretty good, for NiMH packs anyway. I will continue to work on the gearing to get the motor temps under control and look into the timing options.

A used BL system will likely be the way I go when my budget allows. I just want to run stock class so as long as it still has some smoke in it, I should be okay.

Also, I will definitely be getting a set of clay compound tires for the rear and getting some more practice time.

stock front tires work great just about everywhere.

Huge question!! Just finished building my sc10 and really stuck at where it should be geared. I am running a novak Kinetic with ballistic 17.5 Please let me know a good gear setup where i can use a mild amount of boost but not have to worry about heat. Thanks a ton in advance and your help is very much appreciated!!!
