Hi all,
I just wanted to know what others thought about the idea of providing a 'sticky' thread (or three) that address some of the most often asked questions? A few ideas would be:
There's now 890 odd pages of info here and seeing how we see lots of newbies asking similar questions it might seem like an idea to centralise the info?
What do you guys think?

- tires (types, compounds, etc.)
- diffs (types, locking options & outcomes)
- bodies (what's available for what wheelbase)
- suspension (options, settings etc.)
There's now 890 odd pages of info here and seeing how we see lots of newbies asking similar questions it might seem like an idea to centralise the info?
What do you guys think?

It's all centralised on RC-MINI

But, I feel that there are other forum members here that have valuable input and info (for example the best tire combo for a track in Orange County CA, or a great suspension setting for an indoor track in Wales) that could also be captured in one place.
I've just noted that there are lot's of newbies that ask similar questions and who (for no fault of their own) sometimes get replies suggesting either to trawl through the forum or visit rc-mini.
So my point was, with close to 900 pages and over 13,440 posts, it's a hell of a lot to trawl through.

I find that having to search for information can work two ways. One I learn something new and two I find out what doesn't necessarily work.
I commonly refer others to rc mini net or answer through this thread. I think you will find, most guy's will not share openly all of there covert mini secrets. The PM scene is where most of the prized information is shared.

I know that is where mine goes, as does some others. If you want to make a stickey go for it. I will still add my comments when I feel I need too.

The 'secrets' shared in PM's aren't what I'm talking about.
But while we're on that topic, (call me naive) I thought the purpose of forums was to share information, not hide it.
I don't want to start an argument about this; it's something that's used in other forums quite successfully to aid new people and for FAQ's.
If the concensus is that it's not worth doing, then no problem.
At least I feel I've learnt something today - that not everyone here is entirely open.

You guy's know all of the secrets, plus more. I have told you my info at the tracks and shared my setups..
Not that you will find I have/had many.

You will find that some will not share openly. People will advise openly unless they see you as a threat to there obtaining a result.
I still think trolling through the thread yields more information to use or disregard as you see fit. I found things I hadn't even thought of to try and found them to be useful.
If you were to ask me for my mini setup I will give it too you, but what works at my track and with my driving/radio setup may not work for you.
It is not the car setup most of the time in mini, but the tyre/insert combination that makes your car work.
I have most probably sent more PM's on mini information than I have posted on this thread, as most newer mini drivers PM asking for assistance, than post in the thread. This will cover topics such as car setup to tyre choice, etc. Not all of this is "secret info" and never will be, but sometimes when your testing stuff for a big race then perhaps not everyone needs to know and you only want to share with a select few.

Perfect, that works for me.
I have seen so many TC drivers try to take all the slop out, put on all the hop ups they can buy, must be blue
,
and they just stay the same or go slower.
Not everyone’s cup of tea (I’m from the UK) the only thing that made a difference for me on a M05 was,
Tyres / inserts, shock’s and mounting weight on opposite side from motor (3-racing heat sink, dose nothing for heat but great for mounting weight,
put weights between the fins, about 40g with heat sink,,
we run any seal can brush motor no lower than 20 turn. See maritime in UK for our rules.
