Never got a response on the fuel question. I'll ask again. Will it be too bad to use the 1/2 gallon of A-main 25% on breakin? I just hate to waste it and I can only get it about once a month when I see a certain parts guy...
you should be fine...what % and brand do you plan on running after the half gallon is gone?...

I love the A-main and I want to continue running it was just gonna go to 30% after the 1/2 gallon and the hardest part of run in is over. It's made by MM so it should be good for these engines I would assume.

The newer GX motors will spin over fine if you heat them. The older Pro series motors were a bit of a nightmare, but GO has the tolerances on these new motors spot on. They are easy to run in, but still tight enough to give great performance for a long life span. Just be patient and do the 12 - 15 tanks. It will be a little funky for the first couple of tanks, but after 3 tanks it should be running nice and smooth. You don't want to baby it too much, and after 8 tanks you should be starting to feed it a little fat. You will feel when the motor is starting to free up and wanting to rev higher. Just make make sure you heat it up nicely for these first tanks and it will love you back when it gets older and a bit worn
Ideally you should heat it everytime you start it from cold, this will increase your motors life exponentially. But this is not always practicle at the track, but if you can, do it for sure.Let us know how you get on

I'v never seen the point of going to 30% myself, I get great performance from my 25%, but everyone has a different opinion on this. So its your call.
I personally would stay on 25% and just remove a .1 shim after 5 litres to get the same performance as 30%.
so you are running .4mm of shim on 25%?..

I know fat is rich but shouldn't it be rich for run in anyway? That's why I didn't understand why he said that as it should be a little rich anyway.... Just thought it might be a different circumstance.
I may stay with the 25% after hearing that. I've just never got to run 30% before and everyone else does. lol kinda silly sounding when I type it out.

You want to be a little on the rich side while running in, but not real rich and boggy. Just a little blubbery for those first 8 tanks, then a little leaner for the next 4, then just under race tune for a few more. Then by #15 you should be ready to race. It will still be tight for a while, so don't expect 100% performance or real good economy for at least 1.5 gallons. By then you should be humming real good
Perhaps that wasn't the best phrase to use. It means ¨give it some throttle¨ or ¨put the foot down¨ - nothing to do with running rich.
