At the end of the day they should find the best design works flawless on every condition because most of the racers hasn't got sponsorship deal and chassis options are not very affordable ...
but its a bit too late now...
The BD5 has about 4 different bottom decks...
Teams will always test new parts, the bottom deck that comes in the TCX kit is the best for a large number of conditions... From mod to super slow 17.5/21.5 etc
you wouldn't expect to have a car that worked perfectly on both rubber and foam tires using the same bottom deck...

Just built mine, ready for racing next week

Everything went together fine, couple of obsverations

1. If you use lipos with the battery bumps, they will not sit flat unless you turn them upside down. OK if you have lipos that have the ability to connect both ways - my new Nosrams allow this, my Demon Lipo's don't only battery connection is from the opposite side to the that with the bumps. Perhaps that is why Andy has the chassis he is using. It has the cutouts to fit the Lipo's with the battery locators.

2. The top deck restricts full movement of the motor for gear meshing, it can be shaved but since it is not very wide at that point
I run 13.5 and on the TC I run 74/31 = 5.16. On the TCX this relates to 74/28 which will not fit. I am going to have to go 79/30 or 82/31. Which hopefully should fit OK (77/28 is just about OK but the mesh is loose) But the way the motor mount support fits may hinder larger pinions if the motor needs to be moved to the most forward position.

Anyone using their TCX yet? are you using the same set up as your TC?
Looking at the standard kit set ups they are very similar so I presume to put my TC settings straight on to the TCX is the best way to go.

They are not!

Same problem here with the top deck, to pass a 115/28 ratio which is indicated as possible in the manual... I dremelized it (1mm by 1mm)!!!

I plan to order some quality screws, purple aluminium hex for the top, stainless steel torx for the bottom...

Does somebody knows this shop : http://www.fastener-express.com ???

It seems serious...

If your insisting on being pedantic about this, then I could have used examples of the difference between Tarmac and carpet.
I figured it would be easier for the masses the understand why the difference in bottom deck if I said foam and rubber becuase it's obvious that you wouldn't use the same for both.... Jeez

obviously they're on rubber but Yokemad is trying to stir things, just like in the yokomo BD5 thread....

Anyway, back onto something productive on this topic......

Not really Luke, Im just free to write what ever my thoughts are
And don't have to promote any product...
I was looking at bd5 and they have 4-5 chassis, you think that's normal and fair enough
that's mainly because of the new tech. Stuff...
For a year old chassis it may sound ok but Its a bit too early to see that on a week old one ...
Anyway
Enjoy your new ride...

Default tcx kit set up

Hello

Have found the kit tcx set works well out of the box, the std tc set up is nearly the same.

The only thing I will be changing is 1.5mm spacers to 2mm spacers under the toe in blocks front and back.

Hello everyone,

As you might already know, HB factory team driver Ty Tessmann did excellent job at the ROAR paved on-road nationals this past weekend. I just wanted to share the setup with all of you guys.

Here you go.
Please let me know if you have any questions!

If Ty ever took on-road seriously, he'd be a force to recon with. Of course, I think he had a pretty good mechanic at the race, don't you?
