i dont understand why people are having so many problems getting these motor started either. i got just the bone stock motor that i had to break in myself. the very first time i put fuel to it i heated it up to about 180 and it fired RIGHT UP. and it does every single time. i have right at a gallon on it and it SCREAMS! fires right up instantly everytime. not a single problem

I was actually looking for someone's opinion besides those who get them for free and never tell about the bad things that happen. I bet if you had to pay reatil for them you wouldn't be such a supporter.

Funny thing is I can hit my Ninja or my V-Spec one time on the starter box while in the trailer and it will idle all the way to pit lane no problem. The EB mods engine takes about 5 minutes of revving the hell out of it for it to even idle for ten seconds then it cuts off three or four times before it will actually run. Also, my JX.21 stayed put up for about six months and all I had to do was put it in the car and turn the HSN 1/4 turn and it runs like a champ. I wish I could just chalk it up as "you get what you pay for" but unfortunately I paid more for this that I do my JX.21 engines.

Flame away........

Meh, a few people run these engines where i practice. I see nothing wrong with these engines and never seen them to fail starting. Last race there, the EB mods engine was EASILY the fastest engine there. I think it was the .23, but stil, no other engine came close in power.

hlpressley, if you are having a hard time getting your JS to run like your O.S. engines it's something your doing not the engine. I ran a vspec before the JS and it starts and runs just like the vspec.

How much fuel is through your JS? If it is still around the gallon mark you need to give it a little more time to warm up before you hit the track.

Get the motor running where you think it is running right. Then take the low side needle and lean it out 1/4 to 1/3 a turn. This motor likes a much leaner bottom end then and OS. I have owned a few v-specs and a speed before this motor and love this one alot more. Was yours a race prep or box stock? Did you over temp it? Are you running an odonnel plug, JP series pipe, or some crappy fuel? (these 3 things make the motor run crappy) If you are having a hard time with a p4 plug try a p5, stay away from jp series pipes, and keep the low side needle a little leaner then you are used to. Only thing else I can think of is you may have over temp'd or rev'd the motor and made the rod a little sloppy. You just can't come in here short fused with a fit like a 5 year old who didn't get his way and yell this motor is crap without trying to figure out what your doing wrong first.

MY JS is nothing like any OS I have ever owned and I doubt any of them are. I have about 1.5 gallons on the engine and it will stay that way as it will never be bolted in any of my cars again.

First off this is a public forum and I CAN say what I want. If you think I am crying like a 5 year old then so be it. My engine is junk. Yours may be great and I am happy for you as I don't doubt there are a few good ones out there but mine was and still is junk.

As for fuel...you are right it may be the problem. It is most likely equal to the quality of the engine. I think it says EB Mods on the side of the bottle. I am also running a P4 plug and a Ofna 086 pipe which were all suggested by Ed Bridges himself.

no problem! I'm sure your OS's are great, but please understand these are not os engines and tune nothing like a os. so for you to sit here comparing apples to oranges makes no sense. you chalk it up as whatever you want,,, I'll chalk you up as user error. carry on...
