Just ordered me a b5 -- going to put my recently pinched 5+ gallon v-spec in the pit box as a backup motor. Guess I'm gonna find out how well the jp-4 works with this motor. This pipe has been great for me on fuel economy, so I'll report back what it does with the b5.

Is this one of the carbs that dont sit flush?

that is the exact point at which the carb gets to the inner o-ring. if you push down and give it a wiggle it will slide past the o-ring and seat the rest of the way!

noticed your pinch bolt is preety loose. Is there a chance the carb is catching the pinch bolt, the part that is angled to hug the carb?

I just compared it to a new one I have still in the box. it stops in exactly the same spot as his picture! then, with a little more push, it goes past the o-ring that is down inside the crankcase neck and sits just fine!

Yep, I sent him a PM back about this. If the carb catches on the o-rings you can just take a pen, pencil or some other type of non-metalic object and just run it around the o-ring in the case. This will make sure the o-ring is seated properly in the groove that is machined for it in the case. Once you do this everything should pop together.

+1 You just haven't pushed it in all the way, mine was just the same way. I made sure the carb pinch bolt was out of the way and squeezed it in w/ my thumb then tightened the pinch bolt while holding it in place.

BTW this break-in is a breeze! You warm weather guys have it so easy, my last one was in 30 degrees, it's now in the 50's. 5 tanks thru it so far and I'm lovin' it. Will finish break in tomorrow.

just a small dab of ARO on the carb throat and the o-ring and it seats just fine............i kinda like the ebmods ARO, myself........
