Why don't you guys run the new J Concepts wheels? The plastic seems to be much stiffer than the AE stuff and they come in white which you can dye any color or black. I've seen the wheels dyed and they really take color very well. If your desperate you can still run those stripped AE wheels but it takes alittle effort on your part. Just epoxy the stripped out part and allow it to dry. Then dremel the area for the pin. It works fine.

The only real benefit of heavier wheels is the added gyro effect for adjusting the car mid flight (which can be quite useful with the parachute effect of the body). As far as better handling, the less un-sprung weight the better as far as keeping the power to the ground.

The way a heavy tire or wheel would work is increased rotational inertia, it would act like a heavier flywheel and keep the tires from spinning up as easy. this would be a help in smooth stuff as in the rough the unsprung weight would offset it.

Couldnt help it.

Check your gearing and motor temps. Your pinion gear may be too slow, your slipper may be too loose, and or its possible but check the back of you rims to make sure you didnt accidently strip one of them.
Edit....
I just re read your post, and you should try a 21 or 22t pinion, not a 18.

Im not posting a for sale ad here, I just wanted to throw this out there.
I have 3 T4 trucks, one is a parts truck.
I have a complete stealth transmission, mounting plate, rear a-arms, aluminum rear hubs, aluminum heat sink motor mount, black motor mount, gear cover, good spur gear and slipper assembly.
Basically took the back off the truck.
If anyone is interested in this for a ball diff conversion please let me know.
I have already done the conversion to mine, and its, with out a doubt, an imporvement.
Just pm me.
