Go-Tech Engines Thread

I'll be there bro. I'm hanging out after missing the points meeting at ARCCC last weekend, and mid week on-road as well.
I still have a few days of my leave left to go before it's back to the workplace
, so the buggy will be getting the big once over ready for Sunday. You picking up Benny B as usual ?

the GX series engines are due at the end of the month by the sounds of it and the MG66's should be here next week wish I had the extra cash for 1 of those puppys but the Fiji trip next month put an end to that

see you sunday

I just talked with Russell, the map price will be $224.99 on the new Gx motor. (less on the 3 port but he isn't getting any of those this order) This is an awesome deal since they come with a rod, restrictors and a plug. He is not getting a ton of these on the first order. If you want to put 1/2 down to make sure you get one pm me by Friday. I was going to order some to sell but may not get as many as I want. They are still expecting to ship from Go factory 2nd week in Aug.

I can't really justify one this season. My Stage 5 5 Port with 2072 is all I need at present. Keeping that for special events and the Nats. The trusty 7 Port is the club motor for most race days. If or when one of them expires, I will see whats hot at the time and do the deal. In the mean time the money would be better spent on good tyres etc at my level I reckon.
CU Sunday bro

Yeah, I thought long and hard about an MG66 too, but sanity prevailed

Those shock pistons sound like the deal Giz !! The X-Ray forum boys on this RCTech site are going on about some new magnetic shocks coming onto the market soon. They use opposing polarity magnets to dampen - I hear they are pretty good too. All this new technology is wicked. We are lucky to be involved with this sport in these times.
You had a legitimate excuse for the MG66 mate - your engine expiring etc (plus it was your birthday too
) If one of my engines was even the slightest bit suspect right now, there would be one sitting in my buggy next week !!
Can't wait to get some reports in on the 66's once they have been broken in.
I reckon they are going to turn a lot of heads

Yeh I'm practically sweating over the postal wait here..probably won't get mine for 10 days or so..Next race for me is the 6th sept so I'll be going all out to get it run in for then..Mark at MM says DO NOT IDLE IT...just preheat and sling it on the ground and drive it..pretty much what I do anyway..I had a result with the 7 port actually..no one wanted to buy my modded p/r/s set for sensible money so I managed to buy a set of crankcases complete with bearings from steven at specialrc for 22 bucks and a gen 5 crank for.wait for it..$1.79..gotta love ebay sometimes..anyway so for 30 bucks shipped I got my 7 port back up again..so I've sold the 3 port and am running in the 7 port while I wait for the MG66 to arrive..If the MG66 isn't ready to race I'll just race the 7 port..
And these trick shock pistons really make a difference..up till now so far as I know only fioroni have made dual action pistons and they are a bitch to find and expensive..After refusing to spend the cash to go Big Bore all this year I finally bought a pair of mp9 shocks with the new velvet coating for 10 bucks the front and 12 bucks the rear(more ebay luck-usually 74.99 each) so I thought I'd try kyosho's pistons as they are only 6 bucks a pair..the big bore shocks have been taking 500-800 weight oils rather than the 350-500 of the older shocks and heavier oil is less efficient..it holds air bubbles in it more which create friction and heat as they pass through the piston holes and has more tendency to bottom out the chassis on big jumps..The taper pistons are 8x1.2/1.3/1.4 mm holes (this is more holes than the standard pistons so you would expect even thicker oil) but they run only 250-400 oil..anyway I'm very impressed with the performance so far..the compression damping gets stiffer the harder you hit them and the rebound ready for the next hit is lightning fast..If I can get the new motor and the car dialled for september I'm gonna kick some butt!

TEE HEE ISN'T IT JUST..actually for a few weeks the auctions were just immediately relisting at the end of each auction but since I won those bits he's stopped listing engines broken down into parts..might just be waiting on the newer engines..not sure..

I can give you the part numbers then just search for those on amain..I couldn't find them using any other search..KYOIFW405-138 are the 1.3mm which are the standard or middle size..KYOIFW405-128 and KYOIFW405-148 are respectively the 1.2mm and 1.4mm all 8 hole....I ordered 4 of the 1.3 and a pair each of the 1.2 and the 1.4...currently running 1.3 with 300 oil at the back and 1.2 with 350 at the front..

don't say I never do anything for you .popped out to the garage in the pouring rain..15.9mm piston so 16mm shock internal bore size..pretty sure this is standard for most makes of big bore shocks...
