WFO you hit the nail on the head on this engine with its power band and needle sensitivity. I have been doing a lot of testing on this engine lately and have experienced thew same thing on and off the dyno.

The engine makes for a very good short track engine. And for the price its a good deal IMHO.

I race on a medium length track, really really good motor in my truggy, our straight is pretty long, but not long enough enough for me to really run out, just under the threshold. I'm sure with a good modding and maybe more of high-end pipe you can get enough top end for those large tracks!

WFO- The motor really wakes up after thorough break in. It will run cooler as well making better power after at least a gallon through it, you should be coming up on that. But don't be afraid of some heat. 240 barely gets my motor close to where I want it to be. I can tell you at 218, it would be very dissapointing.

Most of the team has found that the P4 or the OD 97T produce more top end power (Reedy plugs just released, but compare to P3 and P4) than a P3 does.

I can say however that even at 260-270 degrees, the motor makes great power but never has that "screaming" sound some are used to (your previous ninja). Just because it isn't making as much racket, doesn't mean you're not going as fast. I run a 16 tooth on a RC8 and never get "pulled on" down the straights. I'll take the drivability and smoothness of the engine over eye opening top end anyday.

I have almost a gallon through the motor and it just gets better and better. Ran all weekend without a flame out or a stitch of trouble. This is the smoothest motor i have ever driven. I was getting "pulled" in the straights but, i could easily go up a tooth or two on the clutch bell. I was getting about 10-12 ft on the other trucks coming outta the corner but they would catch me at the end of the straight.
Its really quite odd the pitch that this motor has. it sounds like no other motor and i like it!

What a great engine. I took it out to the CRCRC shootout this past weekend and had zero problems the entire time. Idles forever, and really was not that hard to tune, using OD 97 plug, nitrotane 30. My brother and I were running the same car. He in sportsman and me in pro. We were back to back in most of our races and the engine just kept going. I tune for performance and the temps were only in the 225 range. I have run werks, OS, nova's. I really like this engine.
I sealed the carb with racers edge sealant and always used a heat gun before starting. Used the thunder tiger 2035 pipe.

Good statement.. And it all leads to "SETUP". The Reedy is very similar in a lot of ways to a Vspec.. bore/stroke/crankshaft design even down to the engine timing which is close as well. This is what gives it its smooth power characteristics. With some coaxing/internal modification i have been A LOT more impressed with this engine.... And for the $ the Reedy is without a doubt a top contender and will get the job done. ESPECIALLY if you have your setup on point. But as with ANYTHING setup is KEY!

Adam, did your mods change the drivability of the engine? My V-Specs always hit like a light switch off the bottom when I tuned them nice and crisp. The Reedy engine has been SO much easier to drive since I've switched over.
