REEDY .21 Nitro Engine

I see you are in FL, which right now would be high in temp and humidity. We also have high humidity here in NC. I have had great tunability out of the Odonell 97T plug, I think it's better than P4. It holds and amazing idle and also immediately comes down to idle if the LSN is tuned correctly. Taking out .4 of shimming will make it tune quite different, which is probably where you got lost.
Run the engine with the stock head shims first, which like I said is 2 shims, each being .30 and .25 mm.
My needle setting are roughly 2 3/4 turns out on the LSN and 2 turns out on the HSN. Keep in mind the HSN on the engine is really sensitive, so 1 hr. makes a big difference.
There's really no way around it, but in the summer with high humidity, the engine will run between 260-270 for good performance.

My engine doesn't really come alive until I see temps of 245-250. Don't be afraid to turn the happy screw in to make it run.....just make sure you've still got smoke.
I've tested with OS P3/P4s and O'Donnell 97Ts. The best fuel economy came from the P4, but it could make the tuning window pretty narrow. I ran the 97T at Nats and a state series race last weekend and the plug worked very well. That plug will give you slightly better fuel economy than the P3 according to my testing.
I've been kind of rough with my engine. My engine came off the track at Nats around 300 degrees, and the air filters were clogging in the space of 10 minutes at the track I was at last weekend. My engine's still got very good compression at around 1.5 gallons on it, and the bearings still feel smooth. My air filter clogged so bad in the main last weekend that the engine ran extremely rich for the last 15 minutes of the main. It kept running though! Pretty amazing little mill!

Got about 3 tanks through mine tonight, it idles mint starts very easy and seems quite responsive to adjustment. So far this motor has been good. I am running a dynamite platinum 053MR pipe with a odonnel 97t with gen 2 30 %.

053 works pretty good. motor lacks a bit on the top end, so maybe something that will give you a bit more top end

I installed & raced my Reedy 21 in my RC8T,for the first time, Sat. 7/25 at Reo Raceway, in Indiana. It has a 14 tooth bell & 50 tooth spur, Dynamite MaxLife shoes, 1.1 clutch springs, 7/10/7 diff oils and AKA CityBlock tires. I finished 3rd Place in the Truggy A-Main. The motor runs good. It has an excellent bottom-end & good mid-range. All-in-all I really like the motor. I talked to Adam at AB Mods about the timing specs of the motor and he says it's really similar to the V-Spec. It dyno'd at 1.5hp & 56oz. of torque. I'm looking forword to heading to Whitehouse Hobbies in Tennessee to race tomorrow & do further testing.
Question(?): I have seen the engine apart (pre-production,) on RCTech(the pictures were from France) and the piston had 5mm bypass holes - does anyone have any idea why they omitted them in the final product? In my experience, they have been known to boost power & fuel mileage.

I'm not sure when, but it is supposed to be a 'more equiped' version. This may be a feature of that version of the motor, it will essentially be a 'Team' Version of the reedy.
There is a video on Youtube that has like a first loook at the 2 versions of the Reedy, one with the dark blue head and one with like a gold head. I don't remember how i found it. I'll keep looking for it and post it up....

Ran the Reedy today tuning window seems to be small. P3 plug, Asso. 2035 and stock clearance. It ran pretty good on the bottom but seemed to tail of on the long straight. may be a short to mid track motor. temps were about 240 then i richend the bottom 2 hr and top 1 hr and it came down to 218 still has about 3/4 gallon on it. i did notice at one point that the case was cooler then the head. i wonder if this is why some people are getting a higher temp reading then they are ok with? it had good smoke at 240 temped w/ 3 different exergen guns ...The ninja i sold my friend w/ 4 gallons killed me on the stright I wish it rocked the top end i would be...
