Had the 2nd round of the Nationals yesterday, but came away extremely disapointed. Qualifying wasn't all that, and only managed to win the F final, before my nearly new V-spec started to really pack up about 6 minutes from the end of the E final while I was catching the guys ahead for bump-ups, after running poorly all day, no amount of tuning would seem to get it to run right???

I was recommended 60 / 55 front / rear shock oil, but this seemed way too hard, the car was bouncing around and I was having traction issues all the way round. The track is US style with big jumps you have to nail. The handling seemed extremely inconsistent, you never knew what you had until you got to the corner. Apart from the shock oils, the setup is stock.

I also have absolutely no on power steering, every time I go near the throttle, it just runs wide. I was watching the Pro's in the A final, which very nearly was a Losi 1-2. They were able to accelerate a good metre or two before me and in the turn to get a good launch out of the bends. Could this be due to running the smart diffs?

I am also led to believe that the smart diffs need rebuilding every 30 minutes of run time.

You guys got any pointers?
i do smart diffs after every gallon, i dont have it on my 8t 2.0 yet but i do on my 8b 2.0. and far as shocks go your way to thick. go 35 in front 32.5 in rear, thats a great set up

i follow this set up to the T(never understood why its a t? lol) http://losi.com/ProdInfo/Files/8Tcompletesetup.pdf

if your track is smooth use that, if its blown out, really bumpy use this

I have the 8T 2.0 and my steering is not that great it will not turn in on off power. This last week end I had the AE truggy just eat my lunch on the tight turns what can I do to improve this.

Are you getting full lock when you turn the wheel? I have never had a prob with too little steering in this truck. Also look back in this thread the font wheels do hit the font arms on the back inside. You can dremmel a little here or use the +2mm hub extenders. But I haven't had a steering prob with this truck. Also what diff fluid are u running?

I run both front and center smart diffs. I love them. I usually run the 4 - 15 springs. I just rebuilt them and only out 2 - 15 springs in the center will see what that does. Should leave the thing locked up more. I think the smart diffs are a great tuning tool. I do notice thatthw truck has tons of steering on and off power win them in. I wouldn't think that you would have to spend an extra 90 bucks to get the truck to steer but IDK. My only grope about the smart diffs is that they are a pain in the a$$ to rebuild. Those damn little springs but I am getting better at it. I did them ysterday and I noticed it was a little easier. Still nowhere near as easy as filling a diff with silicone. But the reward is great.

I just want to say I love this truck. It is 10 times better than the 1.0 I have the smart diffs front and rear. Jdub modded rear hubs, OS EB Modd V-Spec with os 2060 pipe.

I finally got to run it this past Friday. It was a smaller track and since I was the only truggy I had to run with the buggies. I did pretty well running with them my first time out with the truck. I ended up 4th in the amain out of 6. Which I felt was good considering that buggies are normally faster.

Very happy and money well spent on this one.

Never had an issue with steering myself. Actually my truck turns on a dime. If you haven't already rebuilt it, I would seriously reccomend going through the truck and rebuilding it with the stock setup. The factory build leaves a LOT to be desired. If you have already gone through it, what did you do as far as setup? Diff fluids, shock fluids, etc...

Frank...I thought it was bad for servos to set steering (EPA) to full lock???? I set mine to full lock and then back it off a few clicks. I did notice that there is enough play that would allow the wheels to rub on the comber link.

What issues did you have with the factory build (other than the obvious loose screws, broken shock ends, etc)? Just courious because although I went through everything and checked for tightness, I didn't look at diff/shock fluids, etc.

Air in the shocks, leaky diffs, etc... Just the usual stuff.

it was....but we waited for track to dry, by 1pm we were running, and they set up the scoring so we could reference our lap times, it was a good day of practice, I must have ran 15 tanks at least

OK....ditto. My center diff was leaking out of the box. Just needed screws tightened on it. I haven't looked at the front or rear one yet...decided not to take it apart just yet.
