For basic carb, I suggest you rich the Main needle 1 full turn and then start leaning it as you go. Just make sure you still have smoke from the pipe all the way from 0 to full throttle when you trying at the stand, then do rest of the tunning at the track. hope this help

does anyone have enough experience with this engine that they can lend some insight as to how it compares to other engines in the same price range? for example a stock jlr evo 3 or a jp p3l firstline stock? a lot of people seem happy with the engine but i couldn't find any comparisons.

I've sent a PM to Grinder already but haven't gotten a response yet.
My CL12E needs a new turbo button. I sorta messed it up being impatient the other day. I've checked the Murnan site but don't see any listing under engine parts for Capricorn. Thanks.

I broke the engine in using the Murnan bench method and swapped out the conrod after the first gallon. I'm now nearing the end of my 3rd gallon and I still need a screwdriver on hand at the starterbox since pinch when cold can still jam up pretty good. All carb settings have been consistent as well. I'm also running 20% O'donnell and a Capricorn/Sirio 2611 pipe.
Just too bad I jacked up my turbo head after putting in some afterrun last practice day.

The Q5TE is based on the Sirio EVO 4 but works much better and of course has much better looking internals.
The powerband meets buggy requirements best but also in truggies you can benefit from the high revs this engine achieves.
For Buggy it has a lot of liniear torque right from the low end up to the top, that has to be controlled...and in the upper range it is at least as good as other tuned competitors or even better.
It works well with the 2013 and the new Capricorn 2068, that sounds slower, needs less fuel, smoothens out the engines low end but in deed is faster.
I talked to Patrizio from Capricorn last week and he told me, that this is what the new pipe was made for.
The engine seems to like colder plugs...this is what some of our drivers tell me again and again.
Of course you get a Turbo and a Standard plug head.
Come and get one... :-)
