I have a turbo button on my s5 l2g. honestly it runs about the same. main reason im using turbo button is so i dont have to change plug so much. I didnt even think about it and ran same plug for over 2 gallons. when tunes on and with short header and 086 it runs 12+ minutes with that turbo button. without turb button its just over 11, both with 30%

Do you have to run the inserts to get that kind of run time?

I would say yes to inserts. I get about 11-12 minutes on my modded ws7 with normal plug, 25% Byrons Gen 2 race blend and #7 insert. Love my RB's I can't wait to try out my new "Hobby" 5 port when it comes in.

THanks for the info. SHould I run the #7 on my new S5, during break in and after break in. Thanks for the response, atleast there is one person out there showing love. I also run odonnell 30% after break in. I run 20% sidewinder during break in. Also, where did you order that new Hobby 5? I wanted to wait for these but got to jonesing after I ran that s3 last weekend.

Default Problem with b9

Hi
I have a b9 to replace my grp tuned engine.I have broken the engine in but the engine seem to get very hot 160-180f but does not have the power anywhere near the grp which has had a full rebuild. The tried different plugs rb 6-7 better with 7 ran cooler. But does not have the top speed.
Thanks

I use no inserts at all. Its more the pipe and header that do anything on my s5 l2g. super linear and smooth.

Well Ive already ordered inserts 6.5, 7.5 and 8.5. i was planning on using the jp3 pipe and header or I can use a 192 header and 2020 pipe.

That sounds like a tuning or clutch issue. I have been fortunate to have guys at the track help me tune. WHen I first went out, it topped out about a 1/4 of the straight. Cool puller had me pull it over several times and bam she would scream down the straight.

RB has always taken time to tune and fully break in.

There is something about the way they build there motors.

180 isn't Hot by any means for that engine, and it will take way more then a gallon before you get a good pinch in the engine, and get the carb where it needs to be.

Give it some time and keep running it.

B9=C6 part for part from what I have heard, so it really shoulb be a beast once its really run in.

My WS7 is giving me some problems. I've been chasing a tune all week in preparation for tomorrow. I've been running it for a tank, letting it cool, then running it again. It seems inconsistent from tank to tank. I've been getting a lot of stalling in the higher RPM range while accelerating. The engine seems to get hotter and hotter during each tank until it's about 250 or even 260. After a few minutes, there's plenty of smoke, but the first few minutes are often much less smokey. I'm thinking my bottom is too rich and my top is too lean, but it's hard to detect because my idle is too high. I'm hoping I can get it set right before tomorrow.

Any suggestions on where I should be going with my needles?

what plug are you using...try hotter plug. iv been reading on here the rb/nova plugs have been fouled.
I see some c6's around but not many s7's. most rb's are similar but not the same. I know from experience the rb pipes and both 053&086 pipes from power racing or dynamite are descent pipes on my s5 l2g. the only jp pipe i would try on an s7 is a jp1. i have all jp pipes ecxept the p6 and have tried them all on my s5 and they either lack somthing or tend to run hotter than the dynamite/rb pipes. I tried the losi re11 last week and things were good but ran a little hot. when running hot i usually try richening top and lean bottom an hour. running an rb at 240degrees is fine(i have a grp that runs 60 or more degrees less). when i see 260+ after a 15 minute run i turn needles. I am believing tune by sound is better than by temp. I have have the extra shim under my button right now too.

I hear of guys running jp3's(some get lucky and are efficient)but that 2020+short header outta be nice..I read somewhere somebody was getting more than 13 minutes and it might have been with an insert. if i remember right it was on a ws7.
