Date/ Time: March 29th. I'll leave the time/ entry fee info up to John and Mark.
2 classes: Spec Slash and Open SC.
Rules
Spec- Slash must remain stock and you can only use tuning parts included in the kit such as preload spacers and pinion. You can swap out the radio and receiver. Batteries were originally going to be 6-cell matched and a 20C Lipo, but it sounds like most racers want to run a 30C so we may have to tweak this rule depending on what everyone wants to run once we are all there at the race. Custom painted bodies are allowed.
Open SC- Any mods to your Slash is acceptable, open motor, open battery. Must use SC type tires and SC body any brands. If someone somehow has an SC10, it would run in this class only.
Last Rule- Have fun!

no 7 cell nimh for spec class? But you can run a lipo? A lipo is a definite advantage over a six cell. A 7 cell is closer to the performance of a 2 cell lipo depending on the C rating. Am I wrong here? Come on don't make me run a 6 cell for spec class.

Here is the deal I learned about 7 cells...it is common sense when you think about it.
Peak a 6 cell shotty and you get sometimes aroung 8.5 or so volts depending on your pack. You might get low punch with maybe 5-10 amps of burst but 8.5 to 9 volts.
Look at a 2 cell lipo...fully charged and ballanced you are looking at again, 8.4 or so volts, a hell of alot more punch (15c-45c punch) which is a HUUUGE advantage not to mention more consistent continuous voltage, predictable dropoff, very low discharge rate (when it is sitting overnight) not to mention a serious weight savings.
7 cells (unless in open class) COMPENSATE for the punch of a 2 cell lipo with VOLTAGE! Unfairly when i peak my crappy Venom 5000 bash packs they peak at 13-14.5 VOLTS!
2C lipo to 6 cell is more fair but the lipo has the clear advantage. Take out a 7 cell and although you'll be driving a tank you will be pumping almost double the voltage of the lipo which can't be overcharged like a NIMH.
The punch may feel similar but it is because of the gobs of voltage it needs to be in the same game.
Save the 7 cell for the open class or something.

Keeping stock gearing/motors/ESC blah blah is the way to go. In all honesty I am sticking with a 6 cell even if it was open class. 7 cells is really too much power even if you gear down to low 11 ratios..then you start running hot and getting other problems.
Lipos are even pretty hairy on other tracks I have been to...1/4 throttle lipo feels like 3/4 plus on a 6 cell due to the burst. For alot of people that would cause spinouts at the starting line or unpredictable twitchy low speed handling in the turns which a majority of the track holds.
Just my 2 cents
When I was tesing all Tuesday night I wsa at the tail end of a 7 cell trying some different things and RCHR Mark pulls up with a rental Slash and let me tell you...tuning won't do dip if you can't control the truck with the 7 cell. He had me on a beat 6 cell pack they loan out pretty nicely. He is of course a mint racer and I was the one having some trouble keeping up to him and he didn't have anything special setup wise from what he said.

Carpet season is almost over at madness, so I'll be down with an abundance of 1/18ths this spring and summer.......if for nothing else then practice. Hopefully we can get a class going on Wednesdays or something.
I know a few of ya'll have 18Rs ( I seen ya'll at the mini nats so don't deny it).........I've got some dirt tires in the works for those....might be fun with the jumps.

Another thing to keep in mind is that too many classes = no fun. We currently run 2wd,4wd,truck,slash,oval
, and sportsman. And some idiot wants to start running vintage.
If we try to add 18th to that we might end up with 2 drivers per class and 6 volunteer corner marshals for every race.
It's a free country and you are more then welcome to 18th scale (as long as you don't rip up the track too much
), but I just wanted to give you some stuff to think about. Besides that, come down and HAVE FUN!
