Traxxas speedo $55
Traxxas motor $26
Venom Nimh battery $35
-----------------------
total $116
maintenance 0
-----------------------
compared to brushless/lipo on the cheap....
Novak Havoc w/motor $160
Reedy 3200 Lipo $72
--------------------------
total $232
maintenance 0
twice as much money for the same work...
In fact, just the battery and speedo/motor alone cost $32 more than the entire kit that already comes with a speedo and motor!
Mark I basically was agreeing with you if you read the whole post.
thats why I said I think roar should of included the titan on the list of motors for the sct rules. I already have the other stuff thats why I would prefer to run it, but already said to keep it cheap the traxxas motor should be allowed.
Roar already approved the expensive stuff. I just think they should allow the cheap setup (traxxas esc, motor) even if its not something I prefer to run. Just think its better for the class in general.

I have 1 lipo sack at the shop to sell, I'll also be bringing two with me that can be shared as more than 1 pack can fit at a time, I imagine a pyrex cooking dish with lid can be used as well, even better protection and you get to see the show if something goes wrong.

The problem is racers these days don't understand the concept of "spec" or "stock" class, or rules in general. The way its supposed to work is the track sets the rules for a class and the racers just follow the rules. But these days it dosen't work like that, instead of just following rules, the racers want to manipulate the rules in their own best intrest with no actual regard for the class in general.
The simple fact that when you ask the racers themselves to come up with the rules and they can't agree proves this. (Even though ROAR did all the work for them,
)
I miss r/c racing in the 80's and 90's - everybody used ROAR rules, it was simple and fun.

It's like you said "Traxxas didn't include a battery in the box"
I didn't think that it was ok to do anything to the tires until I turned around and saw the top 3 guys saucing the crap out of there tires. I know it was an RC driver race and not a RCHR race which adds to the confusion.
The reason I bought the slash was to try to get a class going so that the newbies that walk in the door for the first time and want to try racing could have a cheap option to run. (I feel that we need newbies to keep the track going. I don't want to see it end up like all the other tracks lately.) If they don't have a clear set of rules laid out for them they might get discouraged and go home to play video games.
The proceeding was the sole opinion of the author and was not intended to get anyone all upset.
