Could Chad or anyone elso who might know please help me out on this subject? I have a Eb modded .21 with about 12 runs on it. Ran strong last race. Went To clean stuff for Motorama and I noticed there is minimal pinch in the motor. Is this normal? It has like a double snap to it at the top. Am i SOL hopefully not. Thanks

Pinoy Cali, I woud defenitly go with 24.
I run two 24 full moded engines in my rc8t(I have two cars, one for racing, one for practice)and realy like the power of 24, if you dont need so much power you can still geared up or install smaller venturi on it and you get extra runtime vs the 21 with the same power with standard venturi, so why use 21, if you can get the same or more runtime with 24. And yes, i also run sirio 2056 pipe. I get 10-12 min. of runtime, depends on track. At first I wanted to buy extech 2056 pipe(but its all the time on back order at amains) so I took sirio2056 pipe, and Iam realy happy with it, and I realy think its the preety the same pipe as trinity pipe.
hope this helps

Double snap at the top? You may want to disassemble it and check and see if your connecting rod bushing is excessively worn creating slop. As far as the pinch how little pinch are we talking?

That sounds like a rod bushing going. I would not run it until you replace the rod. You may have ran it too lean and over revved it.

Last weekend I was trying too dial in a new FM 21. I had great low end but no top. And temps were getting up there. I turned the HSN out 1 full turn and the LSN in 1 full turn. My top now SCREAMS and I still have good bottom. My temps also dropped 40 degrees! I will check exact settings but I am somewhere around 1 1/2 turns out on top and a full turn or so in from flush on the bottom. Stock settings seemed off.

i got a race prep .24 eb mod and it had no shims. I had good bottom and no top, like i was missing the upper 20% of the rpm range. after i blew my third or forth plug i disassembled it and found no shims. So for those of you having some problems I would check the shimming. I already had some slop in my rod after only eds break in and four tanks by me. I sent it in to chad to take a look at it and he said i would have a new engine by the end of the last week. still waiting but i am sure he is a busy man.

Yeah my conrod is beat.... Just a little discouraging that it didnt last any longer than it did. Not knocking the motor at all cause it definitely has balls but now to replace a conrod 1/2 gallon in kinda sucks.

More than a little discouraging! Contact Chad Phillips and see what he can do for you.

Did you run it supper rich or something? My pre-run .24 has at least 3/4 gallon through it and it has tons of pinch in it. I can barely turn the flywhell over when mounted in the truck. \

Frank, if it was an EBMods engine you should have sent it to ME! No one else is authorized to work on any of my engines...... This goes for anyone that has an EBMods ExTech engine.

The .24 engine only has one shim installed and it's aluminum and can be easily mistaken for not having shims. This happens all the time to people that pull the head off, and the shim gets stuck to the head button and blends in, which is exactly what happen to you this time.. But I know you'll say it wasn't.... The .24 shims fit tight on the head button and require a razor to lift from button.
Also unlike your .21 please don't reinstall your heatsink wrong after removing it. Just like you had your stock extech 21 head on sideways during the Hobby Hut race..And when I asked you about it, but you denied removing it? So just please pay closer attention when working on your engines.

FYI, if the engine was under shimed it would scream on the topend.... not fall flat,,, falling flat on top is a sign of low compression, wrong pipe, or too hot of a glow plug.

first of all that engine is now my property, I paid for it and did not sign or agree to any disclaimer to where I decide to send "MY" engine to be worked on! No one else is authorized to work on your engines, give me a break ed thats nonsense, haha lol! show me the legal paperwork, patent, etc. that proves that. maybe you will throw out your warranty if some one else works on it but to say no one else is allowed to work on them is nonsense or even funny.

second of all i check the engine for shims maybe i missed it maybe i didn't? i did not see one which does not mean it was not there. so do not try to guess what i am going to say!

third, i did put on my heat sink on sideways and never said I did not so stop lying about me in order to better your self or make me look bad. i never denied removing it because i do after every race weekend! you pointed it out and to be honest i was a little embarrassed about it, but i never said i did not do it! why would i lie about something stupid like that? don't you worry about how much attention i pay when working on "MY" engine! If I do something wrong to "MY" engine i'll make sure to send it to chad to see what he can do to "MY" engine.

your the one that pissed away a good salary job at trinity($50k a year) so stop coming on here causing problems and lying, this is no longer your thread!! A friend of yours told me about you quitting and he could not fathom how you could just piss 50k away like that, you had it made working at home etc. I responded well maybe he has money? His response was ed does not have money he is dirt! what ever that means i do not know take it how ever you want. he said you quit because of backstabbing at the work place, grow up ed it happens in every work place! ed you are what your are and you will always be just that the rest of your life.(lazy, a liar, and always looking for the easy way out). i am very good at reading people and your book is easy to read, only a few pages though you haven't accomplished much!!

i am sure your right about how the engine would run with no shims, you know alot more about engines than me. but what if it was broken in with now shims and the rod developed a lot of slop around the crank pin how would it run then?

this may have got a little personal, but you lied about me and I could not let that go! i post what i think is the truth or what I find(no shims possibly) and if I am wrong i will be the first to admit it. maybe you do the same, maybe in your laziness to recall conversations properly you thought I said those things, who knows?

Some quotes after a quick search:

Several unanswered calls and voicemails to eb mods.

Well, I've got EB Mod V Spec that locked up last week very prematurely. It was my favorite .21 less than 2 gallons on it, but now I'm questioning the quality of the mod it did run very good and I was leading when it died. But I have other V Spec's with several gallons on them with no problems, and I emailed Ed a week ago with no response. So I will probably be looking at a different .21 for a replacement, seeing all the retailers don't handle it anymore, and OS took it off their website.
ED YOU HAVE MAIL !!!

look on forums for your reputation on faulty EB modded OS engines. There are plenty of them... start googling. There was even a celebration outside the forums on myspace LOL.

Its good to see this (people who run a business like him into the ground).

Sure Ed your always right customers are lying!!

Sorry, but it's hard to answer every call and email when I'm the only one here. From Dyno testing, Machining it's hard to get all the work finished on time,,,, and then answer calls and emails. Anyone who complains about my quality of work doesn't have a clue.

A new web site is almost finished and should be up by the end of the week. Look for it to have More Tech Data like Dyno Graphs, Engine Blueprints, Flow Bench Data, Engine Pics, Shop Pics, with a current News page.

Ed is selling his stuff

My loss your gain. EBMods is going out of Business and looking to sell off all the equipment and tooling. Please contact me direct at [email protected] or call the shop 570-719-1012
Thanks for all the support,
Ed Bridges
Eds quote on him going out of business:

Sorry everyone, I should of never posted what I did until I knew for sure. I had a few family issues pop up that made things very tough. I guess I just lost my mind for a few days with the added stress.

I know some of those posts are old but they reveal eds true colors!!

I'm still doing OS engines and plan to have a few new engines and exhaust kits ready in a couple of weeks. I've been putting together a press release for the Magazines and Online to announce that EBMods is staying in Business and is being restructured. What's this mean? Not only better customer service, but I want EBMods to be known for having the best. This is the number one thing I'm focused on. From a Fresh new web site, along with more engine choices, Exhaust Kits, ETC....... and having someone able to answer the phones during normal business hours, I hope to change this image. Look for myself and more Team drivers showing up at tracks worldwide. The new EBMods 926 Tuned Pipes for the V-Spec's will be available soon. They are EFRA Legal 3 Chamber Pipes with Black Hard Coat.

Mark at powerhouse is the bomb..Thats the only one i would let chop and screw my motors...Kinda glad i stayed away from the eb mod motors, i have only heard bad things about them NOt trying to knock Ed work or anything, but when i was in the market for a OS motor i did read some good with the bad..
