Go-Tech Engines Thread

Hey another question for you GoTech runners....you ever used the Werks clutch setup in your buggies with the Go Tech Pro motors? I have a couple of those clutches still at home sitting down with extra shoes to choose from if I need to.

Hi Kendall, welcome to the forum. I have to disasgree with you on your comments above. Driving skill doesn't really come into the equation when it comes to pipe damage. It doesn't matter what level driver you are, if someone hits your buggy from the side and contacts the stinger or pipe it will bend, even if your name is Hara !! Unless your clever enough to stay in front of the field for 30 mins without lapping anybody, then sooner or later the pipe will take a knock. I have run quite a few pipes and taken quite a few knocks and the 0801 has certainly damaged easier than any other pipe I have owned.
I am definitely not knocking Go products (I love my Go engines), just stating a fact that others also seem to have found with the 0801 pipe

I guess what I was trying to say was that if you are a better driver you won't be stuck sideways on the track and therefore not getting t-boned by another car. No doubt lap traffic will cause problems, you are right there!

I think the best thing we could do to prevent the pipe from denting is putting on the stinger guard. I know Kyosho's come with them, not sure on other cars. But I believe it is what is saving my pipe from damage.

alright, I need a new motor to get me through the last of the season, and I really dont want to spend $400 for 5 more races
...I have never had a GO, but have raced against them and while they had good power (5ports), I have seen a lot of experienced racers have issues tuning them...so what is the deal with the new GO's???? I run a STRR on medium size tracks with lots of short run ups to doubles, etc that require good power coming out of corners. I currently have Dyn 53 and 86 pipes, JP2, MSR1005, and OS T2050...should I be looking at the 3 port or 5 port or the 25? Not real crazy about the 25 as it is a standard plug....also, I am confused by the long and short LSN....what is coming with the new models now? If I do get one, should I just slap a Nova carb on it? (I have several lying around). I really do not want to have to buy a mill and then have to JB weld things on it...if that is the case, I will just spend the extra money, race it and call it good. Thanks for any help!

The .25 has tons of tourque, awesome truggy motor. We pit at 7.5 minutes, it can easily get 10 minutes on most tracks.
The .21 5 port is really good in a truggy, if you run a .21 now there are not many big buck motors that have better bottom end than the 5 port. What motor do you have now?

Brian - thanks!
22Racer - Currently have Nova 21-5kt - honestly, I do not like it..it is the most finicky engine to tune I have ever run...power is alright, but I would like a bit more. Before the 21-5, I ran GRP Tuned...loved that motor, but the main bearing grenaded and destroyed the P/S. Before that I ran a Max Power M5 (liked that one too), before that a NInja...all with 53 pipe (86 pipes just did not give me enough low end)

I have been running the GO 5 port with JP-2 and love it! Had a Nova .28 before and a Werks .28 and I'll take the GO any time. It has almost as much torque but is way easier to drive and makes up way more time on the track. not to mention 8 min. runtime instead of 6.

From what I have driven, the Go has more top and bottom than a GRP and a Nova. Go might be the cheapest motor on the market but it meets/beats the performance and tuning of more expensive motors.

I dont want this to become a p****ing match, but I do know that no GO 5 port that I have raced against has ever been able to keep up with my Max Power M5 or the GRP I had...not even close (mid range and top end)...the GO likely does have more bottom end power....if the Go's are a P5 knockoff (or am I wrong on that?) I dont see how they could be more powerful then some of my previous mills (mentioned above?). In reality though, I am gonna get one and use him for these last 5 races and then see where I am at....if I like it, then I will continue to run him..if not, well, back to the Italians it is then!

If the Go motors are so inferior as you claim, why are heaps of racers fitting the Go internals into their Novarossi's

Sorry about the Tri Nations and the Bledisloe Cup too
