Go-Tech Engines Thread
#4083
Hi guys, just want to share my experience with my GO .28 mill, last weekend I raced my truggy at the Singapore 1/8 Offroad Championship. I did managed to qualify at the A-main. When I got back home and checked my engine I saw a nasty scratch the whole lenght of the piston at the side where one of the opening for the wrist pin is seen, upon closer look the G clip was gone, this could have probably caused the damage in my piston and sleeve
.
Since the following morning the finals will be held, and no spare engine at hand, I have no choice but to use the damaged engine without one of the G clip holding the wrist pin. The a main is an hour race, and luckly I did still finished 6th without any problem with the engine, the only problem is that I broke my steering linkage which I still manage to fix.
Now i'm planning to get a new GO engine a .21 instead of a .28. Guys which is better for truggy the GOLD or the SILVER?

Depends on the tracks you run etc. Personally I'm driving the 5p Turbo in my OCM and it's plenty or power and suit's our tracks better. As you are coming from the monster power .28 I believe you'd like the 5p more. If you have more flowing tracks where you can benefit from the 7p mid-upper range, pair it forexample with the 0801 FEMCA pipe, tune your clutch and you should be good to go.

I'm looking to buy a .21 7 port-turbo engine in the next few weeks and Amain shows them on back order. Can someone post a few links to other places I can order from?

I can see if I can get you one. I just sold my last one. I can call and see if they are available? I have to make a order anyways. My store is www.holeshothobbies.com

HSN flush, LSN 1 turn in from flush
With idle gap set to 0.7-1mm these should get you going. In case you have issues getting engine to idle lean LSN until it stays on. Don't touch the idle screw once set to about 1mm. Regarding tuning fill tank, drive it through making sure everything is OK and engine is up to temp (+100deg), refuel, drive to about 1/2 tank, turn in HSN if needed untill the engine clears out nicely on top but with clear smoke trail, then tune LSN (3sec kill or other way you prefer), set idle if needed and in case needed, retune/make sure LSN is correct. In case you end up loosing power on half a tank and/or get lean bog, open HSN 1/4 turn and go again from there. Long LSN is bit more tricky on HSN setting. Also be conservative on tune untill about gallon and you've got rid of the mechanical pinch. Power is more on LSN than HSN on these engines.
