Default Incorrect Sleeve?

I've been lurking around these forums for a while, tons of great info. So much so that I decided to get a GO 7pt a while back and was VERY happy with the performance.
Just recently I picked up a new FT RC8 and decided a GO 3pt Race was going to be the engine of choice. I ordered and all was well until, when I was taking the engine apart for sealing and to place the shim in for break in I noticed the sleeve was NOT a 3pt Race (at least i don't think it is, I'm not an expert by any means). I took some quick pics (sorry for the quality, all I had was my phone). What sleeve is this? (I'm thinking 5 port). Will it work with the crank/case for the 3 port Race?
Thanks!

drfmf1, From the looks of the picture that looks like the MES exhaust which means it is the 7 port sleeve!! It would seem that the other guys on here that ordered the 7 port motor got your 3 port piston/sleeve in there motors and you got there 7 port in your 3r motor. There must have been a batch of 3 port and 7 port motors that got the sleeves mixed up at the factory. Dont worry, Russel at race factor will get you taken care of asap . Hopefully the other customers out there that recieved different sleeves in there new motors will find out before the break-in . Just get ahold of him and let em know.

I e-mailed Racefactor and received a very quick reply instructing me to send my motor back to them and they will get me taken care of along with a reimbursement for the shipping costs.
I know the motors run great and so far with this mix up the customer service seems really good (fast responses to e-mail - which is rare in any industry).
You can't fault a company for making a mistake, it happens to all of us, but the follow up to the issue can really build confidence if handled in a professional and timely manner.
If the rest of this situation gets handled in a similar fashion I will be a GO engine customer for a long time.
Thanks for the replies.
I'll keep you guys posted.

should i be adding an extra .1 shim in the head for a 3port .21 sport engine to run 30% nitro? I have already ran 4 tanks of the breakin and the instructions said it was recommended to run 25 - 30 percent nitro. Have i messed up the engine or is it ok to add in the shim after 5 tanks of fuel?

The extra shim is just to help make break in easier. You can put it in now if you like...or leave it out. I would use it. I actually have left mine in my 5P and like it....seems to smooth it out a little.

got my 7port replaced from racefactor already (they are very fast and great to deal with) THANKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a question about turbo and none-turbo.... I have both head buttons, my question is about the shims. I have never run a turbo plug motor, what shimming do I use .55 ~ .60 ?? (this is what I used on most .21 none-turbo) also 30% fuel...

it has the none turbo in it now, so when I put the turbo in it should I have to re-shim ?

Thanks

We use 7 mm restrictors alot, even on pretty good sized tracks.
Some of the pro's at Silverstate ran as small as 5.5 mm. If you don't need more power put in a smaller restrictor for better mileage.
Stock is 8mm I believe.

what restrictors fit the Go carbs?

so if the stock restrictor is 8mm, and I put a 7mm or even a 6mm restrictor, it will gain a better mileage? will it loose anything?

thanks.

You will loose some bottom end and maybe a little top end. Like 22 racer said though if you have extra power and dont need it or find the car hard to control best to tame it down and get better run times.

Hello all I am doin a lil engine TLC tonight and I was wondering if my go tech 5-port was supposed to have two (2) copper shims and one (1) aluminum shim if i am running 30% fuel... Is that the normal set-up?
