R/C Raceland (new track in Carol Stream)
I just found this flyer about a new track in Carol Stream. Looks like it will be real easy to get to. Its just 3 miles west of 355 on North Ave.
If anyone has more info about it please post. I am going to check it out on my lunch tomorrow.
attached is the flyer I found

Sweet! Only about a half hour from here (FINALLY!). Tough time to open an indoor track at the end of the indoor season, but it's nice to have something in the western 'burbs again.
Anyone know anything else about this place?
Google search shows is is or used to be some type of youth athletic training facility (baseball, soccer, gymnastics), which would mean LOTS of space.
Might have to take a reconnaissance trip over there...

LOL i lived less than 5 minutes from this locations for 23 yrs... i know exactly where it is and know of the place.
there all very large buildings over there
the google map you have is a mile or so to far west ... the place i believe that it is , is a place that you to be an indoor inline hockey rink, then a indoor soccer field, then an indoor volleyball club.
It was formally named GLEN AYRE and use to be a tennis club in the 80s and early 90s before it went through numerous changes as i explained. Its actually a very large facility if the 2 buildings are used for rc or even just one first building. My best guess on the size would be 1 and 1/2 football fields long by 1 1/2 football fields wide. The back building being almost equal in size and had 6 ( i believe ) full size tennis courts . Its and older building and its set back a couple hundred feet from north avenue. I havent been there in 10 years as the hockey organization i was involved with moved to elgin.
I am going out there tomorrow to visit some friend so i will go in there see what i can kind out.

the 2 silver roofed buildings are the ones i am talking about the bigger one on the left is or was the soccer building. the right one being the indoor tennis area.
I will have some info tomorrow.. cause if your brother was playing soccer not to long ago , then the people i know still own it and are prob renting it out to the rc raceland..
the building it def a throwback in decor and decades of sweat on the astroturf style soccer carpet will smell.

Someone should talk to the owner of the place and have him create his own thread here if he plans on having racing and not just bashing.

I talked to Paul, one of the guys spearheading this new track. He said one of the goals of the place is to give all ability levels a place to race their car. With the size of the building I guess there will be enough room for multiple tracks. He also wants the place to be place to have fun at. He definetaly wants to hear from everyone input and ideas of what everyone is looking for. Right now the racing surface will be the carpet that is there right now I am not sure what it is but he said it is not Astro turf but some kind of carpet.
They do have bobcats ready to go to build and outdoor offroad track as well.
I told Paul about this site and thread and he will be coming on here to answer more questions and tell everyone more about the facility.
Sounds like this could be good facility in time that will cater to many forms of RC.

went to the place and i did not see anything construction wise going on or any material or anything looking anything like they were working on it.
It looks exactly as it did the last time i was there 10 years ago lol

Is the place still currently in use? If so, I wonder how they would feel about having traction compound on the current carpet.
