R1, Orca, and JDR were the top motors at the nats this past weekend. I started with the tuned G4 HW but switched to my MC5. My bro switched from his R1 to his JDR and was one lapped car incident from a national title in GT12. I will say that the EA tuned R1’s brought the heat. We played with gearing and sweet spots in motors power bands. I didn’t even solder up my Team Powers this weekend as I went in fully committed to the HW and then my bro put in his JDR so I decided to try my MC5 which was similar to his JDR and never looked back.

Need some advice. OG Motolyser or Hobbywing tunalyzer. I'm just a local racer who wants good Info. Like if I swap rotors in and out I want to see what makes the best motor combo.

Which would you say is best. I have a skyrc motor analyzer but I'd like more info than it gives.

I had a Motolyser but it smoked and burned a mosfet.
So I don't know if I buy a used moto t
For $100 or less
Or a Tunalyzer for 300ish new 200ish used if I can find one.

Thanks for any opinions.

Neither are going to give you the info you are asking for by themselves. A rotor swap affects RPM and torque. Both of those units can only measure RPM.

You need a dyno. And even then you need to know how to get the "best" dyno performance into the right gearing on the track

HobbyWing released info on the new G5 13.5. AliExpress has them for $142, which is odd that they would sell them first. It looks like the new G5 will have the same size can and stator as the SpeedZone Evolution. I wonder when they will show off the 17.5.

I actually have a G5 17.5 on order. Should have it early next week.

Are you sure? Hobbywing haven't released a G5 17.5 yet. It's 13.5T only right now.

That hasn't prevented anyone from offering pre orders, https://www.beez2b.com/en/cat/24120-...-6938994429412

The "should have it next week" part is where they're confused.

A little bit. I would expect this motor to work best for high speed on-road racing. I don't feel it has the bottom end torque of the TP and HW.
